Considered one of the Pancha Bhuta Sthalam this Shiva temple will definitely boost your sense of spirituality and bliss. From the stunning architecture, to the sound of nadeswaram in the inner sanctum, to the centuries old mango tree where the union of Shiva and Parvati took place there is so much to see and take in. I even found space to meditate in peace for a while here and eat prasadam after, without being rushed out.

This Temple is near the bus stand. From bus stand you will reach a signal.. From there, if you return right side, you will reach Chitragupta temple.. If you turn left side, and walk for about 500 Metre, you will reach this Temple.. When you enter the temple, you could see a huge temple water tank.. Lord Shiva - Kachapeswarar Ambal - Antanatchi or Kanniyumaiyal It is one of the padal Petra sthalangal of Lord Shiva. This is one of the twin Temple.. The first one is on a small hill top Called "Marundeeswarar". The second one is at the foot of the hill.. Gajaprashta Vimanam is seen in the Gopuram design.. When Sundarar came with the devotees after having his Darshan in thurukazhukundram, that were very tired and hungry. Lied Shiva himself, came in a disguise of an old man and gave food to Them.. Sundarar was astonished and do he sang thevaram songs in praise of Lord Shiva.. So Lord Shiva also has the name "Virundeeswarar".. When Lord Vishnu wanted to help Devas to Churn the "Parkkadal", Mandhara hill was placed in the ocean. It did not stay steady. Our trip was for Shraddanjali to HH Jagadguru Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal at Shrimatam.We were there before in May 2005 with my daughter's marriage invitation for HH Divine Blessings which we cherished.Must visit and feel the vibrations.No entrance fees.We participated in Sree Chandramouleeswarar Pooja by HH Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal from 10.30 to 11.30am. We prayed at Brindavan inside the Shrimatam. As we went to Orikkai to see Mahaperiyavar Manimandapam 4km away,we could not take annadhana Prasadam at 12 noon.

Kamakshi Amman Temple (Shri Kanchi Kamakshi Ambal Devastanam Temple) was rebuilt in the 14th century during the Vijayanagar period. It is one of the rare places in India where Shakti (sacred force or empowerment) is worshipped. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi a divine form of the Goddess Parvati. It is also associated with one of the greatest Hindu saints, Adi Sankaracharya. One of the unusual things about this temple is the statue of Kamakshi shows her seated in a Padmasana posture (a yogic posture which signifies prosperity and peace), instead of the traditional standing pose which is present in most other temples of Parvati. Another unusual thing is that this is the only traditional Parvati/Shakti shrine in Kanchipuram, a traditional city with hundreds of traditional temples. This is a large complex with a temple tank and several mandapams (halls), including one with 100 pillars. The main sanctum has a gold-plated roof. This temple is very crowed on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, when a large number of devotees come to worship. The temple closes daily at 12-12:30 until about 4:00 p.m. Non-Hindus are not allowed in the inner sanctum.

I started trip by reaching a already booked Oyo room near Sankar Matt, but, they refused. Don't book Oyo rooms any where, as hotel owners are having issues with Oyo and they are refusing admission. On the advice of some person in Sankar Matt, I reached yatri nivas opposite to Kamakshi Amman Kovil east gopuram. It is good for money. Most of the temples, are closed by noon and are reopened at 4pm. Going early in the morning for darshan is the time. Anna Prasad is served near temple at noon time. Near Amman Kovil, there are other temples like Ulagalantha Perumal, Chitra Gupta (towards bus stand), kachabeswara, Kumara Swamy temples etc. Main temple, Ekambareswara temple is nearer to Sankar Matt. Other important temples to visit are Varadaraja Perumal, Kailashanathar, Pandava Dutha Perumal temple etc. It takes a minimum of two days to visit important temples and takes more to cover the remaining temples. Most important of them are Kamakshi Amman Kovil, Ekambareswara temple, Varadaraja Perumal temple and kailashanathar temple. All are very old temples with cultural, religious, and architectural values.
