Top 10 Things to do Good for Big Groups in Calistoga, California (CA)

August 10, 2021 Madelene Haan

Here’s your day in Calistoga: Yoga. Massage. Spa lunch. Hike. Wine-tasting. Facial. Mud bath. Gourmet dinner (with more wine). Dip in a mineral pool. Does it get more relaxing than a spa town built around natural springs in the middle of wine country? We don't think so.

Vincent Arroyo Winery

Reviewed By Sasi_Perreault - Mountain View, United States

This is our favorite winery of all time after going to so many different ones over the years. We normally went to a few each time we came to Sonoma/Napa area, but over the last three times, we just came straight to Vincent Arroyo and ONLY here. Other than the most obvious reason why we keep coming back (BEST petite sirah in the WORLD), this winery has the most happy, genuine, friendly, and generous staff. I think we were with Jeffrey twice and he was brilliant. This last time we were with David, and he was absolutely pure joy and amazing!! He was so generous with his time and explanation (and the generous pour!!). We had the most wonderful & pleasant conversation with him about wine and wine making for a very long time. We were very grateful for the time and knowledge (and fun stories) he shared. We highly recommend this place. Forget about all other ‘more famous’ wineries and just come straight here!! :-)

Fun anniversary weekend in Calistoga. We stayed at Indian Springs, hiked Oat Hill Mine Trail 2x, and had an amazing wine tasting at Lola, a boutique winery on Hwy 29, right before you get to Calistoga. While we’ve driven past Lola several times before, not really knowing what it was, we got a referral to do their wine tasting, and boy did it exceed our expectations. Historical brick house from 1892, beautiful backyard patio, great wine, and super friendly staff. Will definitely stop here again!

Stunning winery well known for excellent hospitality and wines. We were greeted warmly, and given a choice where to sit in their outdoor vineyard area . Diana, our wine host, was fun, excellent, knowledgeable and very personable. The weather was FANTASTIC: 70 degrees and sunny on Feb. 5!!! Jacob, the estate manager also came out and greeted us personally. They have a nice charcuterie plate available too. We will return again! In case you didn't know, the Calistoga "Winter in the Wineries" Passport program has been extended to April, due to the Gov's recent shut down, which is now lifted.

The driveway going up to schramsberg was my favorite memory of this place to be honest. It was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever experienced. The tour itself was very informative, but Brittany was amazing at throwing some humor in there too so it wasn't boring by any means. She really knew her stuff!! Once we learned all about the bubbles, we went into a tasting room to try a bunch of them. Brittany even showed us how to open a bottle of champagne without it going everywhere! It was a great experience altogether.

It was an amazing effort to build a 100% authentic (style) Italian castle in the Napa Valley, and the castello looks amazing. We were expecting the wine to be mediocre, but it was extremely good as well -- we ended up ordering a case, and impressed some friends with the first bottle of pinot gris last week :)
