Today was the second time I have visited Sapphire Spa, both times a present from my husband. Each time I have been looked after by Nell, she is lovely, with a very warm personality. I have old nursing injuries which painfully plague me on a daily basis, and at the moment I’m concerned with plantar fasciitis which is unrelentingly painful in certain spots. Nell used the Physio key in this region for about 10-15 minutes. It has a sensation like a TENS machine (my experience anyway), in the arch of the foot, this can be adjusted to your tolerance level, and is not painful. It is designed to interact with your bodies own pain/healing centres in the brain to disrupt the pain you experience with your disorder & to restore your pain experience to a healed one after a few treatments. Already I am able to walk on my sore foot with much reduced pain, so I highly recommend this treatment. Thankyou Nell, you have worked your magic once again and I am eternally grateful to you. Go & see Nell at Sapphire Spa, she is very caring & will work with you to improve whatever ails you ????????????

Killer Whale Museum

We visited the museum on a windy, cooler day and it was the perfect experience for bad beach weather! Adults and kids alike will be entertained for a couple of hours here, even with covid restrictions closing some minor sections & viewing telescopes. The museum is well set out, despite being small, and the gift shop is well organised. Hubby and I read every single signboard and these gave us such a deeper understanding of the whaling industry in Eden and of the local locations we had visited the previous day. Excellent covid-safe provisions and clean public toilets. Views from the top floor and outside are beautiful.

I went with my 9-year-old. Excellent educational facility. There are lots of information boards (reading) but also lots of hands-on exhibits. It's interesting. There's a microscope exhibition where you can have a close look at and compare details like the surface of a crab and the surface of a sea urchin. Lots of shells you can hold. Some unusual specimens. There is a beachcomber exhibit where you can examine a desiccated moray eel, shark eggs, and such. We loved the octopus in the aquarium. The exhibition on how long it takes different plastic items to decompose was an eye-opener. The next day, Kerryn took us out snorkelling. A bit pricey, but it was worth the money because we had all the gear including wetsuits, because Kerryn is a very good guide and instructor, and because it was an entry level experience for my son who had never snorkelled before. We floated around a sheltered bay. This was a good site with a range in biodiversity and water depth. My son was amazed and is looking forward to another snorkelling experience. Kerryn followed up by emailing some pictures of marine life in the site. Well worth it.

Bega Valley Regional Gallery

*Please note, BVRG will be closed 25 December 2019 - 1 January 2020 inclusive* Bega Valley Regional Gallery (BVRG) is located in the South East corner of New South Wales, half way between Australia’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne and three hours’ drive from the nation’s capital, Canberra. Idyllically situated within the Bega Valley Shire on the land of the original custodians, the people of the Yuin Nation, a landscape of pristine wilderness, rich pastures, unspoilt coastline and boutique villages, the BVRG is the regions only publicly funded gallery and an outpost for contemporary visual culture. Holding up to eight important exhibitions annually, the gallery also boasts one of the country’s richest and most loved portrait awards, a $50,000 non-acquisitive prize for realistic portraiture which in 2016 reaches its tenth anniversary.

This gallery is an absolute gem, tucked away in the unsuspecting town of Bega. Apparently there is a plan to build a bigger & better gallery and make it more of an obvious destination for out-of-towner's visiting the area. That would be so great, cause the curation at the gallery is amazing and would be so good to see what they would do with a bigger space. I've visited twice now, (on my way to friends who live in the area) once for a fabulous photography exhibition about African street fashion (Sierra Leone based Australian photographer) and this time for a kitsch Australiana art installation. Both times have been fun, eye-opening and thought provoking. Highly recommend dropping in for your contemporary art fix. Both times it was FREE as well!

This cinema isn't only great to have as your local, but is also good that it is always clean, on time, and the food you grab before entering the cinema is always good. Staff here are always pleasant as well and always warm and full of cheer and good spirits, and these are the reasons when there is a good movie that we both want to see, if it's on here we will always return.

We called in for lunch and found a warm and inviting environment. We both selected a dozen oysters made up of 6 Champagne and 6 Gunpowder on the recommendation of our host. They were succulent! We then shared a toastie which was excellent. To drink my wife selected 5 beers from their excellent range to try as a platter of tastes. I had the Irish Stout and then the Dark Ale which were perfect to go with the oysters. It was a bit of a cold day but our hosts set up a gas heater and made sure we were comfortable. It is definitely a place we will revisit when next in Pambula and will make sure we go to one of their pizza nights which the locals tell us are great nights.
