Frick Winery began in 1976 with proceeds from the sale of a 1957 Chevrolet. Bill employs honest traditional methods. Making wines naturally, with hand harvest, punching the cap by hand, bucketing skins, no fining or filtering, small oak aging. These practices produce wines that are remarkably complex and honest to the grape. Bill says, "Wine is about the grape. My goal is to show the unique character of each grape variety, vineyard and vintage in every bottle."

Gustafson Family Vineyard

Unfortunately, as of January 2021, due to wildfire damages incurred to our property and the surrounding areas, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue operations as a winery. We are no longer accepting any reservations for tastings or visitors to the winery. If you are interested in our Estate home, please contact us directly for more information on the rental.

My friend and I just went to the Gustafson estate on Saturday to do the tour, tasting, and picnic lunch (with a glass of wine). For what we received, the $45 price was an amazing deal (especially compared to many Napa wineries that charge $45+ just for a tasting with little or no customer service). Steve was our tour guide, and he was phenomenal at that! He took us all over the property and thoroughly explained to us everything about how their grapes are grown and harvested and how their wine is processed and stored. He also would pour us wines to taste while we were at that block of grapes, and he encouraged us to try the grapes as well to compare them to the wine. He was extremely personable (as was his adorable pup that accompanied us!), and I admire how passionate he is, and how passionate the other staff and winemaker are, about their vineyard and their wines. It was so refreshing and enjoyable and not pretentious at all. Their wines are also delicious! Unlike the majority of the other wineries we visited in Napa and Sonoma (19 in total), there was not one single wine from Gustafson that I tried that I did not enjoy. The Zin was my favorite, and I took home a bottle of that. I also loved the Cab Franc, but that is only sold through the wine club, which I might join this year, because it was just that great of an experience. The picnic lunch was also amazing. I got the prosciutto and brie sandwich, and my friend got the caprese - both of which were great. And their chocolate cookies were divine! The view from the picnic area, and from the whole vineyard, is, as Steve put it, second to none. You sit there looking out over the mountains and Lake Sonoma, and it feels like you are on top of the world. The whole experience was top-notch. I would consider them to be the most "must-see" winery that we went to, and if I ever find myself in Northern California again, I will certainly be back! I also will probably be signing up for that wine club soon!

Foley Sonoma

Reservations Highly Recommended. Nestled on a gentle knoll shadowed by the nearby Mayacamas Mountains, the site of Stryker Sonoma Winery typifies the peaceful, serene beauty of the Alexander Valley in the world renowned Sonoma County, just eighty miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Our vision and creativity are inspired by the vineyards and countryside surrounding the Estate. Stryker Sonoma wines mix old-world tradition and modern technology to allow for gentler handling of both fruit and wine. Our winemaking philosophy is about pure varietal expression which produces award winning, balanced wines rich in fruit and deep in character. The Vineyards produce 4,000 to 6,000 cases annually from the following varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Sangiovese, Tannat, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Semillon. Guests visiting the winery today can watch the winemaking process in action, viewing barrels as they are racked in the aging cellar and step onto the observation deck to see how grapes enter the crush pad for sorting and de-stemming. In designing Stryker Sonoma with Nielsen Schuh Architects, Proprietor Pat Stryker was inspired to create buildings that are aesthetically beautiful, sensitive to the environment and in harmony with the landscape. The state of the art modern facility was specifically designed to create small lots of ultra-premium luxury wines from the Estate Vineyard. With the opening of the Tasting Room doors in 2002, the building won the Architectural Design Award for Northern California by AIA. Ever since, the Tasting Room has been open to the public daily 10:30 to 5:00 p.M. And is focused on extending a wine country experience that is truly "Quintessential Alexander Valley".

This was a new vineyard for us to visit. It is a member of the Foley Food and Wine Society. As members we received amazing service from Pedro. We had a cheese and wine paring and ate lunch in the tasting room. They are one of the few vineyards in Alexander Valley that have Tannat grapes. They also have a great Malbec, Cabernet, Zinfandel, and Syrah wines.

Beautiful grounds and great little tasting room. Staff was awesome and poured way more than what I was expecting. So much more that I gave up after the third tasting. We tried these wines back when wine.woot was a thing, so we had to visit the tasting room when we were in California. We became wine club members, and have been receiving their reasonably priced, tasty wines for about 2 years. This is a tasting room that's comfortable, and where you can tell there's been a lot of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Highly recommend!!

Locals is a collective tasting room offering free tastings of over 70 different wines made by small local producers. There are also many fine vintage finds including, clothing, shoes and jewelry.

Reviewed By ashebroe - Walnut, United States

This is a tasting room for many wineries, all local to the area. The staff works for the tasting room and is knowledgable about all the wines they offer, and there is a seemingly unlimited amount to choose from. We were there during barrel tasting time, but there were no open barrels here (thankfully). We sampled approx 15 wines and between the other couple with whom we were travelling and us, we found over a dozen bottles to take home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
