Julio and his wife Nidialys are the owners of NostalgiCar. Before the Revolution in 1959, Julio's father Benito worked as a mechanic for General Motors. The passion was passed on from father to son, who from an early age started helping in the family workshop. Today Julio and Nidialys own and operate a fleet of vintage cars for tours and transfers around Havana and other Cuban destinations. Cars are restored and maintained at our own NostalgiCar Garage. So much fun to ride around Havana in the old cars and visit important historic sites along the way. Average cost is about 80 CUC (Cuban money which is equivalent to US dollars). It is worth the money.

I start off by giving you a bit of my background. No Spanish (eat, drink, and nada mas) solo male traveller from England. (Afro British) Booked a trip to Cuba and had was lucky to stumble up on Cuba Ruby before i embarked on the trip. I arrived and met Ruby the next day and my first impression was a nice petite Cuban woman and i wondered how she fit into the Jigsaw of Cuba. (As i had read a lot online before getting my boots on the ground). Alas how wrong i was, Ruby is a petite lady with the heart of a Cuban Lion. Arriving Cuba, i had a vague idea of what i wanted to achieve but no concrete itinerary so day one was a drive around to get a feel and establish how to go about immersing myself in the rich cultural mosaic of Cuba. Upon discussing with Ruby and telling her my origin and how it was related to Afro Cubans and what i hoped to achieve she created an itinerary that still has me euphoric till this minute. Ruby has significant experience over 10 years’ experience in the tourism Industry of Cuba, she showed me and took me to places you do not see on the pages of any travel magazine. Everything i needed she arranged. She curated my whole trip. She knew where to go for everything, where to get all you needed, translated for me (because no hablo espanyol), honesty and integrity never once in doubt. Most of my time was in Havana, however i made a trip to Vinales arranged by Ruby, she was always a call away, making sure the trip was going on as planned. In summary, my trip would have had a different flavour if i did not meet Ruby. She has a network of close associates who will make your trip seamless. You can design your trip or she can design your trip based on your interests. She will show you how much you want to see. For Cuba is people, music and colour. My Trip coincided with the Jazz festival 2020, i saw the most iconic Cuban jazz musicians all arranged by Cuba Ruby. ( Roberto Fonseca, Omara Portuondo, etc) I saw Cuba (Havana & Vinales) as a tourist and as a Cuban. You can’t go wrong, if you want a stress free, eye opening, in depth cultural experience of this stupendous and enchanting Island. Do it with CUBA RUBY. I can’t describe enough how you get an education and relaxation, you have a feel of the fabric of this beautiful mosaic of individuals and culture. Profound gratitude to Wilson, Richard, Eddy and Ruby for a magnificent trip.
