Initially we intended to go to the neighbour restaurant, but they didn't serve lunch, so they sent us here.The options for lunch are pizza and pasta. My hb opted for pasta, I ordered pizza. It had artichokes which I cannot stand so I asked to replace them with olives or mushrooms.Food was average, no wow-effect. Would like to go there for dinner. Probably, it would be better.

Relaxed atmosphere set within the castle courtyard which made this a superb location. Service was attentive and chef kindly walked us through the menu making suggestions for alternatives to allow us to sample the best locally inspired dishes. Sophisticated presentation with adequate portions of heavenly tasting food! The mushroom risotto veal uccelli scappati was a highlight for us both. The walk up from Bellinzona sharpens the appetite and it is well worth a visit....we'll be back!

The setting of the Grotto is just beautiful. Considering you are eating in a tourist attraction, I was very surprised at the quality of the delicious food. High chair was provided for our 2 year old. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Kids were provided with something to color in and they had four different options between 8-14chf.

The Grottino Ticinese is a great family-style restaurant. At lunch time it was filled to capacity with lots of locals, which says enough. We had the special, hamburger and fries. Recommended for an uncomplicated lunch with great service.

This place in Bellinzona surprised my expectations.Itâs a pleasant and comfortable ambience in the center of the ticinese capital, not too sophisticated but fair enough to be a good place to rent for any business purposes.The restaurant offers two large conference rooms and nice area at the bar.Good service and great food.Dishes are impressive and the price is fair.Staff is professional and the managers are competitive in the success of the place.I recommend Casa del Popolo for events and friends gathering. Hard to find (not that much actually it's just behind the railway station!) but worth the effort. Excellent, mostly local, products, large choice, cosy atmosphere, smiling welcome... reasonable prices... everything that is so rare in the area. Definitely our best bet so far in Bellinzona for quality. Be ready to listen carefully at the beginning of the meal as the menu is only communicated orally! Impressive choice of local wines.

We went here just last weekend for lunch after a long hike. Certainly not dressed for fine dining, but were greeted by the chef and owner Luigi Maiolo. We had the best gnocchi we've had in a very long time, with zafran sauce, and a wonderful platter of cold meat. I could imagine that the terrace is very romantic at night. Service was excellent, I liked the fact that the Chef came out to serve along with the waiter and explained the dishes, as well as greeted us upon arrival and departure. Next time Bellinzona, will be a visit with bells and jingles for dinner!

The restaurant is in a really nice position overlooking the marina and we have visited in the past for drinks. We had the set menu, 3 courses for CHF26.
