For a restaurant in Africa, this is pretty good! Hamburgers, ribs, chicken sandwiches, etc. Good coffee as well. The homemade peri peri hot sauce is excellent on most everything. I (as a Texan) highly recommend the Texas Chicken Burger. It has a spicy breading, and if you put their string-style onion rings on it with a slice of cheese, it is tasty goodness. BTW, my colleagues and I ate at Spur restaurants almost daily for 2 weeks. The service and food quality was consistently good throughout 6 different locations in 2 nations. Spur is evidently doing a good job in their training of wait staff and cook staff. I will definitely be here eating again when I am in country!

We were looking for an eat all you want sushi Buffet, and a friend mentioned "the Hugenout in flora centre.We decided to go find the place (Right around the corner from us). The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere very nice.We were greated at the door with an old brown Sherry and sat down to very good sushi. It wasnt the best I have had as they used i little to much rice for my liking but I would give them an 8/10 for the Sushi. The presentation was excellent and it was very well made.We havent yet sampled the grill side of the restaurant but from what I saw the waitrons carrying around, I cant wait to get back!

On holiday, we decided to visit the nearest Spur. What an unpleasant visit. On a hot evening, air conditioning not working and no alcoholic cold drinks available. The meat dish consisting of steak, wors, ribs and chicken with veg was dry and unpleasant. Fortunately I was passing through Johannesburg and will not be frequenting this place in futureDear burgerjp,Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. This well established restaurant has been here some time & has a great atmosphere & friendly staff. The menu is quite extensive & caters for a variety of tastes. However, was disappointed with all the hype around the steaks from grass fed animals. Had medium rare to medium fillet steaks & found them quite tough. Must be an acquired taste.Hi KarenThank you for your review.We have an immediate exchange policy for just this reason...so sorry you have to chew through a piece of beef you didn't enjoy.After the ageing process the beef should be tender and juicy and we only select beef from farmers that are very selective and care for the well being of their bovine. This old dame never disappoints. There is certainly a reason they have been around for so long. Maintaining the charm of a 60s/70s steakhouse. The waiting staff to management radiate old school warm, family hospitality. The food is certainly better than most fancy, trendy steakhouses in JHB. Their ribs are the star of the show. Ribs you will be craving soon after your 1st visit. Even their side dishes are pure comfort. If you feel like a starter before the gigantic rib portion, the prawn cocktail took me on a stroll down memory lane. Simple but delicious. The desserts will ring a few bells too! Will be back again and again. Saul, our waiter, was a gem. Donât know why all restaurants cannot maintain this kind of service and passion amongst staff. Winning formula.

Founders grill have a very nice ambience. The decor of a suit the place. The staff is friendly and the staff is friendly. The food is very nice and tasty. We had a started as well as the main meal. The prawns and the calamari was very nice and soft. The meat was tender and tasty. A little bit pricey but overall we enjoyed the experience.
