The Kayak Shack

We have several trips and routes available starting at our location in Chester's front harbour. Explore the hidden beauty of the local islands or take a coastal trip along the many little inlets. During your adventure, you can stop for lunch at ocean front restaurants like the Galley, the Sea Side Shanty or the Rope Loft. All rental clients receive comprehensive personalized instruction and a briefing covering basic safety. Our briefing sessions familiarize you with the waters around Chester and with the equipment we provide to maximize your experience. We would be glad to transport kayaks to your location for an additional transportation and delivery fee. All our kayaks are fitted with retractable rudders or skegs and have 2 water tight compartments. Their bright colours are for safety purposes. Our policy is to replace equipment every year, so you'll be using the best and newest equipment available. Kayak Shack Hours of Operation: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., May 15th to October 15th, 7 days a week, weather permitting. Reservations are suggested at least 24 hours in advance.

Liverpool Adventure Outfitters

Liverpool Adventure Outfitters Ltd. opened in April 2003 as a small shop focused mainly on canoeing and kayaking, with a small selection of camping accessories. We had so much space that we had some tents set up inside our shop. Over the years, we have expanded to include bicycles, camping gear, clothing, accessories, and a full service bicycle repair shop. We are now bursting at the seams, and while we still have tents available for purchase, we would be hard-pressed to find a space in our shop to set any of them up! In addition to our store, we also offer kayaking, canoeing, biking, standup paddleboarding, and multi-sport adventures on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and other locations such as Belize and Costa Rica. We continue to add to our tour offering each year, and love helping people enjoy the beautiful outdoors! Our staff are certified standup paddleboard instructors, kayaking instructors, and canoe instructors.

Long Lake Adventure Company

We are a stand-up paddle board and kayak rental business located out of Long Lake Provincial Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Long Lake is the centre piece of Long Lake Provincial Park, a 5000+ acre wilderness oasis that borders on the edge of Halifax’s urban core, only a ten minute drive from downtown Halifax, and central to the entire city. Long Lake was the City of Halifax’s principal water supply from the mid 1800’s to the 1970’s and a result it has always been protected from adjacent development that could negatively affect its water quality. The result is a 3 km+ long lake on the edge of the city with absolutely pristine water and an uninterrupted, unaltered natural shore line. Long Lake is a great place to spend several hours of a day traversing the lake and exploring the many inlets, two islands and the old dam that created the lake’s current shape two centuries ago.
