Luostarinmäki is the only continuous district of wooden houses that survived the fire of 1827 in Turku. These houses are over 200 years old and still standing in their original building sites. The houses have been furnished as craftsmen’s homes and workshops, representing over 30 different trades. The museum tells the story of pre-industrial urban craftsmanship. In the summertime craftsmen come to work in the workshops. The museum is open during summer from May to August, and for the Christmas Season in December.

Definitely worth a vist,historical a very cool place! We had a nice trip in luostarinmäki.The ticket price was also affordable.

Composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) was born and lived the first 20 years of his life in Hameenlinna. The rooms of his birthplace are decorated in the style of the era between the 1860s and the 1880s, and the museum exhibition sheds light on little Janne’s childhood years in Hameenlinna. A guided tour will provide you with more information. Chamber concerts are regularly held at the hall of the museum. Opening Hours 2.5.–31.8. Mon–Sun 10 a.m.–4 p.m. 1.9.–30.4. Tue–Sun 12 p.m.–4 p.m. (Closed: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Labor Day, Midsummer Eve, Midsummer Day, Midsummer Sunday, Independence Day 6.12. and Christmas 23.–26.12.)

A lovely little museum in a great location. You don't need a lot of time to visit, but I chose to stay a little longer and soak in the calm atmosphere. Sibelius's wonderful music in the background is a great touch, and the staff is incredibly helpful.

The Vapriikki is amazing. You can find all kind of museums here. The Stone Museum, Media Museum Rupriikki , Puppet Museum , Pirkanmaa Provincial Museum , Postal Museum , Finnish Ice Hockey Museum , Finnish Game Museum and Tampere Museum of Natural History. Vapriikki is named after the Swedish word fabrik. The Museum Center is located in the former workshop of the Tampella Mill, the oldest parts of which were built in the 1880s. Half of the total area of 14,000 square meters in Vapriiki is reserved for exhibitions and public spaces. I’m a history freak, so the most interesting for me was the exhibition “Tampere 1918”, which tells about the bloody battle between the Whites and the Reds during the Finnish Civil War 1918. Perspectives are offered by the fighters on both sides, but civilians and onlookers are not overlooked either. The exhibition presents a large cross-section of society at war, from children and old people to workers and factory managers. The Vapriikki was selected as the Museum of the Century at the Centennial Cultural Gala held in October 2017 as part of Finland's 100th anniversary program.

The museumship Pommern is the world’s only 4-masted sailing ship still in its original state. On board you can explore the ship from hold to charthouse. The ship is a part of the Aland Maritime Museum, an exciting museum for children and adults alike. The exhibitions are filled with dramatic stories, fantastic objects and lots of interactivities. The Aland Maritime Museum is open all year round, the museumship Pommern between May and September.

Touring the Pommern was so much fun with the headphones narrated by the ship's rat, Ruby. I absolutely loved climbing around all the rooms in the ship and seeing where different sailors got to sleep (LOVE the bunks!). The officer's quarters were so ornately decorated, and the captain's cabin has a little tube running from the deck straight to his bed so he can speak with whomever is on deck. Down in the vast hold you can experience a storm at sea. Excellent exhibits.

This Sami museum is really fascinating with a wealth of detail of the nature of Lapland and the habits and history of the original population, the Sami. We learned so much. We also liked the temporary exhibitions presented.

The Qwensel House is the oldest bourgeois housing from the autarchic times in Turku. The house was built approximately in the year 1700 to an area that was reserved for the nobility. Check for opening times online.

I had lunch at the cafe indoors (smoked Reindeer quiche and fresh cherry juice), a visit to museum, the cake outside afterwards at the cafe again. A delightful spot to relax with friendly staff at both. The House and Pharmacy museum has a small brochure but take the book offered as it has quite a lot of information about the furnishings. I went around and asked questions if the guide but then flicked through the book at reception and revisited the rooms. The hair pictures by the daughter in the bedroom are fascinating and the special chair for ladies to sit with the bustles on their long dresses is interesting. The pharmacy section interesting too with the types of ingredients used and drying room for herbs and plants. Half price for retirees too at 3 euro so if you are retired, don't buy the museum card as cheaper to buy individually.

Especially the Ruotsinsalmen taistelut -section was superb. Also the ice-breaker Tarmo is worth checking. There are so much to see in the whole place that it is better to reserve at least 3 hours for the visit.

Very near the airport and hotels, nice small museum with very rare airplanes. Good to visit with children also, even when papa is the biggest kid.

Must see place for everybody interested in aircrafts and Finnish air force with its impressive history. You can find here examples of very popular planes (Hurricane, Bf-109, Blenheim or Il-28) but also some very rare and unique ones (Brester Buffalo, Valmet Vihuri, VL Pyörremyrsky and more).

Great little museum - free entry and a varied range of intelligently curated exhibitions covering aspects of working class culture and workers' history in Finland. The steam engine is enormous and worth going to have a look at. Some of the displays are quite quirky and humorous and all of it is thought provoking - I learned loads about the history of the co-operative movement and its trials and tribulations through the ups and downs of the Finnish economy in the 21st century.
