Top 10 Spas & Wellness in Maui, Hawaii (HI)

July 26, 2021 Emerita Lamoureux

The Hawaiian island of Maui is a destination for true nature lovers. The ethereal bamboo forest and churning waterfalls in Haleakala National Park can be explored via the Waimoku Falls Trail. Stretch out on warm, golden sands or hit the surf for an unforgettable windsurfing or snorkeling session. Driving the scenic road to Hana along the island’s northeastern shore will be among the most spectacular journeys of your life. Time stands still at the Hawaiian village of Keanae, definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I routinely treat ourselves to massages during "tropical" vacations. In addition, we recently started in home massages on a monthly basis. NOTHING compares to the treatments we received a Ho'omana Spa. The setting is divine; clean, peaceful and aromatic. I was hesitant to do a couples massage but acquiesced to my husband of 35 years. Heather and Lauren ( 5 out of 5 stars for both) began the deep tissue massage with a Hawaiian chant which set the spiritual mood and we were off for 80 minutes of A BLISSFUL LOMI LOMI MASSAGE which we learned is a combination of many generations of teachings that has surfaced after being hidden for many years. The lotions/mists are handmade and lovely. Honestly best money spent while visiting Maui. P.S. The Lavender farm was recommended by Heather and was a great find too!

We’re super grateful for Gym Maui! Great drop-in rates when we’re on island. I love the fresh air that flows through the open doors (rather than forced A/C). Paul Romero is a groovy dude. I highly recommend this gym!

I have been taking classes with Morgan now for about 7 months and I can definitely see and feel my body’s transformation. She is passionate about helping you achieve your goals whether her classes are in person or virtual. She will check in on you if you fall off the course and be a truly supportive coach. Her classes are always different and although they are definitely tough, they are equally fun. It’s always such a pleasure to see familiar faces when you start your workout. I also love that she offers a different type of class each session, including Pilates, Yoga and HIIT. I would highly recommend passion of movement and Morgan for any fitness needs!

The spa itself is a bit on the small side but enough for me. I enjoyed the eucalyptus infused steam room post-massage, great at clearing up your nasal passages & to sweat out more toxins. I also enjoyed the chaise lounge chairs, fruited water, and a delicious fresh orange after (I stayed inside this time due to the unusual Maui heat-wave....usually I enjoy relaxing out on the private patio). But the BEST PART was the massage given by Kathy (or was it Cathy...????....darn it) Bliss. She is extremely knowledgeable and knew how to work on a crooked hip & rid me of a great deal of neck/shoulder tightness using a warm towel sling technique that felt WONDERFUL (and actually elongated my turtle neck self!) my therapist picked a moisturizing papaya type massage oil that I loved, was very effective against my post-menopausal dry skin. And Kathy/Cathy is also a lovely, sweet person! So, if you are tight and tense and prefer FIRM pressure I highly recommend her. Overall a GREAT spa experience.

I attended Joanna’s yoga classes when we were in Maui in January and it was a highlight of our trip. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. Each morning was a new group of happy holiday makers and I really enjoyed talking to Them and hearing where they were from ( which was mainly freezing parts of the US and Canada!). The site on the lawn overlooking the beach is so beautiful. My partner also had massages in our house which he said were great. Highly recommend Joanna’s classes and massages. For those without a mat she has them for hire for $2 although mats are easily available in nearby shops.

I had a loong layover on Maui. Took a cab to Pa’ia to eat and kill time. After lunch decided to see if I could book a massage before heading back to the airport. Called Body Therapeutics and even though it was last minute on a Saturday the owner said she would check with her on-call and see if she could get me in. 30 minutes later I’m getting a massage. Great Therapist and a top notch deep tissue massage. I highly recommend them and appreciate the great service.

RELAX ♥ RE-BALANCE ♥ RESTORE The Rolf Method of Structural Integration: also nicknamed, Rolfing™ is a scientifically valid manual therapy that lengthens the twisted and shortened fascia (connective tissue) of the body by movement, education and pressure. The Rolf Method of Structural Integration, aligns and balances the body by lengthening and repositioning the fascia. As fascia is lengthened it allows the muscles to move more efficiently. I will apply pressure to the body, working the entire fascial system in a systematic way. When a body is aligned and balanced it moves with greater ease and requires less energy to function. Good posture is effortless and breathing is easier. The body becomes more flexible, more coordinated and athletic performance improves.

Alison has been an amazing healer in my life. I’m a nurse and I have done lots of wear and tear to my body being so active. She helped me heal from a back injury. She also helped to guide me and encourage me in multiple areas of my life beyond the body work. I just finished doing a liver cleanse that she recommended. It was an overall healing few months receiving my first 10 rolf sessions. Alison has a really easy personality to be around. She is funny, holistically caring, thorough and very intelligent in her work. She is professional and intuitive. I recommend her to my family and friends.
