We spent a night in Tarancon on Easter Saturday and dropped in to Campanillo. It was crowded as it was Easter weekend. A glass of wine each in hand, we were standing as the owner served his clients at tables. After seeing the caracoles, snails, come out of the kitchen we decided to eat. Morteruelo is a warm country pate that has hare, deer and other game in it with pork liver ground in. It is delicious. We had the snails with chopped hard boiled egg on top. They were large and excellent. Sr. Alvarez also gave us a cazuelo (terra cotta dish) of callos (tripe)On the house to try, once again good. A bottle of white wine (airen grapes) was inexpensive but very good with our food. It's places like this that makes one fall in love with Spain.

Cenamos en la terraza de la calle. Quisimos probar el mojete manchego, una ensalada a base de tomate, cebolla, huevo duro, aceitunas, etc. Después, mientras mi mujer comió una tosta de salmó, yo di buena cuenta de una abundante ración de oreja de cerdo a la plancha... I además con patatas fritas. Estaba deliciosa.

Located in an industrial area near the town centre, this restaurant has obviously lacked any investment for years. Downstairs is a simple meson style cafeteria and the dining room / restaurant is upstairs. The room is dated and tired looking, with a color scheme last used in 1970. Service by the single waiter was prompt and efficient. The menu offers a hot stone self-cooking for the steak, at the table, major problem is that the room lacks any effective extraction so you are literally immersed in a fog of smoke and you leave needing a shower and clothes change.We were struggling to understand how this restaurant is rated as number 3 in Tarancon (Tripadvisor) despite the food being tasty and well cooked this is not fine dining. They serve the food onto cold plates so it is cold and unpleasant before you finish. You order the steak well cooked (muy hecho) but is served bloody and raw. The sea bass (lubina) was excellent but served without any elegance or precision, had many bones and skin. Totally unnecessary.Wine list is good but prices high for the location.Toilets are smelly and need cleaning, so bad you can smell them as you exit from upstairs.

Unfortunately I found myself in Tarancon on business, having to spend two nights hereMy first evening this was the only place nearby and open so I ate a rather dull salad , with just one piece of floppy white asparagus and a few cheap olives to jazz up the lettuce leaves and grated carrot. Only the cheapest of oils and white vinegar to dress it withThe slices of pork loin with baked potatoes that followed bathed in grease but edible. The wine expensive by the glass . The glasses were incredibly small too!So on Sunday I looked for somewhere else but it being August aside from places that need a car was the only place open so gave it a second try. Not a good moveIt was busy with local so I was optimistic at first until I was given the same boring menu as last night. For â¬22 one could have a menu but I didn't want dessert and it was boring at best!With my meagre glass of wine I was brought 4 sloppy slices of calamari which was an indicator of what was to come. Artichokes with bacon for â¬7 was a huge disappointment. The artichokes out of a tin and bacon bits tough and oilyMy cod which followed was quite awful. A rough bony cutlet , dry, and deep fried with a puny spoon of grated carrot and lettuce on the side . At â¬13 the owner should be ashamed. I've had better food in Spain in motorway cafes.Clearly there are so few options in Tarancon this place knows it and does nothing to do more than the bare minimum. I saw food being delivered to the tables around me and not once did I think I wish I'd ordered that. I'm used to eating really well in Spain since I come here on business over 20 weeks a year, in every province, and the majority of my reviews outstanding. This place needs to up its game

Fuimos mi mujer y yo por recomendacion de un familiar y la verdad que no defrauda en absoluto, la habitacion que nos dieron fue con Nombre Templanillo, amplia, limpia, y con muy buen acceso. El Spa super tranquilo, con un recorrido de 90 min. Muy bueno. La Cena de degustacion, con 3 platos muy ricos, un sorbete de limon bueno y un postre espectacular, y en cada plato una desgustacion de unos vinos de la casa que hace la cena mucha mas deliciosa. Y por ultimo un desayuno, que muy completo y que te hacen cosas calientes en el momento.

There are still fantastic surprises like the restaurant "ESSENTIA". In Tarancon, on the main avenue you can find this modern restaurant but with a regional traditional cuisine. It was a very pleasant surprise and worthy of new visits. The wine was excellent.Thank you so much!Best Regards.

It seems small from the outside, but once there, there is an ample dining area. Service was quick and polite, and the setting was pleasant. I chose the menu of the day, which had several choices. The food was excellent, better than other places that charge more. Highly recommended!
