The Taberna del Faro just outside Rodelquilar has been one of our favourite restaurants in the area. But now while the owners are taking a sabbatical it has become really, really special. Expect tapas and raciones made with wit and care and as a respomnse to the new chefâs fine eating experiences. He used to run a place in nearby Las Negras, then was headhunted to open a Tapas bar in Hong Kong. Now heâs back and heâs on terrific form. We ate there twice recently: lunch and dinner. We had a wonderful purple salad with a great dressing as good as youâd get at Ottolenghi in London. (Gosh itâs hard to get a good salad in Andalucia) Then a ceviche of a white fish called Dentón in Spanish or Dentex in English, with avocado and tomato layers. It arrived in a large martini glass, that the chef turned upside down onto our plates to create tri-colored pyramids. The theatre of this rhymed beautifully with the theatre of the contrasting tastes. With our coffees we had a brilliant take on cheesecake and gluten-free bitter chocolate brownies.Next night we had a tapas pf pigs trotters off the bone stuffed with wild mushrooms served with a great spicy sauce; smoked sardine fillets with green tomato jam - again a great combination; lamb sweetbread with teriyaki sauce brilliantly done and a very good tartar of tuna. The service was terrific, the cost was silly cheap and the view across the marvelous cowboy landscape of the Cabo de Gata was sensational. I canât wait to go back.

We are still at the time of this review staying in Rodalquilar. We have travelled extensively in southern Spain and speak reasonable Spanish. We have never been made more unwelcome than in this bar.Service poor price high and Tapas dreadful.Don't go and hope it closes!Dear customer:We deeply regret that you have had a bad experience in "Restaurante Crisol". We can't understand why with the peak season running, you have been subjected to such poor care. Our quality standard has been and must always be the highest, that all our customers deserve. That is why we invite the rest of the travel community to stop by the restaurant and enjoy amazing music, better food and, if the weather is good, great scenery in a wonderful place.Greetings to all. Sincerely,Antonio V.

They have great variety of tapas. The pancakes are delicious. I tried a normal mojito and enjoyed it a lot. The stuff is friendly. I would recommend it.

A convenient and welcoming location for a good cheap coffee or drink and tapas. There is usually a good variety of home made tapas on offer and a family atmosphere as the bar is run by a young local couple with young children. Various clubs and groups meet there and you may be invited to play bridge or spanish dominoes or join the intercambio group where spanish and English meet to help each other with their respective languages.

My wife and I enjoyed our meals at El Cinto. You don't really get to order, Loli (the very excited owner) kind of chooses it for you! It was a little overpriced we felt, but very tasty.

We are in a paradise setting overlooking the Mediterranean sea and mountains next to the mill with a terrace, our special food is meat and fish dishes, highlighting the meat from Argentina. Octopus and grilled squid dishes are also our main courses. Accom
What a lunchtime treat. Authentic empanadas with light, deep fried pastry & moist, tasty meat filling, crispy, succulent suckling pig & of course Argentine steak, flavoursome & cooked to perfection. Wine selection is extensive, reasonably priced. Service was exceptional with the Chef Patron visiting each table to ensure everything was perfect. Dessert was a wonderful crepe with dulce de leche, wasn't fast enough to photo though!!!

By far the best restaurant in Rodaquilar.Even though it was quiet on our visit in April, the atmosphere was great, the service excellent & the meal superb. The menu is very reasonably priced as was the wine list.

Cuisine that combines innovation and tradition, using quality raw materials, processed with the most modern methods and with great creativity.
Off the beaten track (in January at least), lovely setting with some fantastic dishes from a simple menu. Great beer and wine recommendations from our knowledgeable and personable waiter. We enjoyed every minute and even our small dog was made welcome, weâre definitely going back and taking friends!
