The municipality covers an area of 16.05 km (6.20 sq mi) of which 0.36 km (0.14 sq mi) is water. Its population was 22,743 in 2017. Located within the municipal boundary is also the community De Engel.

We got here by bike from Amsterdam Centraal. It was a lovely weather and the trees in the garden of the Castle gace us some lovely rest from the cycling. There are several lovely plants, flowers, some art is also presented (statues). The café is cozy, they have super ice-ream-smoothies!!! And the peacock!! He is a genue gem in the garden!

Built in 1375 by Reinier Dever of d'Ever, member of an old Dutch noble family. The living tower is still functional but the other parts are in ruins since 1848. Open from Wed-Sun 14.00-17.00 uur
