Top 10 Shopping in York, England

May 6, 2022 Sachiko Swiger

Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

Living over here in Ireland, the retro scene is small and very expensive, so I have to spend a lot of my days on ebay looking for stuff. Which would leave me skint for a long time, as ebay is a overpriced toilet. On may 2018, Friends and I went to London Comic Con and I had picked out what I had wanted. It was a Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour. I had searched the entire place and couldn't find one. I was super disappointed, so the night before the last day of the con, I had been back on ebay and bidded for a Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour, it was the console only. So the last day, I was wondering around with friends waiting for the bid to end and decided to go off on my own. So an hour went boy and WHAT DID I COME ACROSS ? Sore thumb retro games stall. HOW DID I MISS THIS ? So I literally ran to the stall and asked did they have "Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour?" and they pulled out a boxed one and the minute I had it in my hand, I bought it straight up. These guys had so much pokemon stuff I was in heaven, They even held onto the n64 Pokemon edition for me too. Needless to say, ever since then, I've been a regular buyer from Lee and the gang. Everything is extremely well priced and it's literally retro heaven in there. I've been to the store itself in York(beautiful place) and got to see the full Store itself and I'm not messing, it was jammed packed, wall to wall of retro goodness. I've made it my mission to buy from Lee a lot more, as he knows the scene a lot better than the sellers on ebay, who ripped you off. Lee prices the stuff very well and it's worth your money. If you want an expert and reliable person to buy from, It's lee and the gang at SORE THUMBS RETRO GAMES. 10/10
