Top 10 Shooting Ranges in Colorado, United States

December 20, 2021 Tynisha Seiler

Colorado is home to no less than twenty-six ski resorts such as those in Vail and Breckenridge; other winter activities include snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, snow hiking and snowmobiling. The state is blessed with national parks, grasslands and forests where in warmer weather you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking or rock climbing. Wildlife abounds, from bears to moose and raccoons to wolverines. More interested in local history? Head for either the Ute Indian Museum or the Koshare Indian Museum, and don't miss the forts such as Fort Garland and Bent's Old Fort. For a complete change, why not take a ride in a hot air balloon from South Park Valley or Boulder and admire Colorado's picturesque landscape from above?

I have completed two class courses so far, Introduction to pistol shooting and Concealed Carry. Yesterday, I had a one hour private course, that allowed me to become familiar with my new hand gun. The Concealed Carry instructor was very knowledgeable and I think was able to answer every question that a student had. My other two courses, were with the same instructor. In my Introduction to pistol shooting, I was impressed with his style of teaching and how he was very patient with everyone. From his suggestion and my thinking about it before, to take a one on one hour private course, I decided to schedule it with him. I liked his style of teaching and left the class very impressed. During the private course, he let me go at my own pace without rushing, repeated safety techniques and very easy going. If you are starting out like me, or want to become more familiar with your weapon, ask for Pete! Pete (I don't know his last name) should be the employee of the month, if he hasn't already been. (do work places still have those, lol) I really hope his pay reflects his dedication, hard work and kindness. Nicole W.

As a recent arrival to Colorado, I needed to sort out my CCW license. Colorado only gives a 90 day grace period honoring your out-of-state permit if you become a resident. And the CCW training has to be recent if you're from out of state. Making a short story long, I responded to a Magnum Shooting Center ad in my mailbox welcoming me to Colorado. I attended the advanced CCW class taught by Josh B. Josh is a former weapons sergeant in the Army's Special Forces, and he knows his business - and he brings a passion for "train as you will fight" and great warmth and patience as an instructor. He made what I expected to be a boring review into valuable training, and I am going to work on some techniques he shared. I also appreciated that there is a live fire portion of the class, in which two handed, strong side, and offhand shooting are expected. The other staff with whom we interacted were all friendly and welcoming. The range itself is clean, well lit, and well ventilated.
