Stopped in for oysters with my wife with the intention of moving on to somewhere else for dinner. Ended up staying for the evening! Enjoyed the fresh and tempura oysters and plenty of other dishes off the menu, especially the beef tartare. This is a top venue, we had a great night. By far the best dining experience we had in Auckland during our 5 night stay.

We came to dinner here as part of a group of 100 people which Iâm sure can be a catering nightmare. We had a fixed menu.I had the raw market fish oka. It had a very strong flavour which was not to my liking.I chose the fish and chips for my main which were very nice, however I would have appreciated a mixed salad or slaw with it instead of a handful of lettuce leaves. Those that ordered the chicken received a mixed salad so I donât see why the whole table could not receive this. However food aside, it was the service that let the evening down. Once our meals came around our wine and water glasses were topped up once and then we were left alone. Wine was available at a separate bar area for self service but when I wanted a glass of water I had to find a waiter near the kitchens.Hilton is a fantastic name brand that on this occasion did not live up to expectations.Dear L6897SXkarenmThank you for your review on TripAdvisor. As you have stated, organizing for 100 guests can be quite a task, and all the menu items were confirmed by and arranged by the organizer to fit within operational levels, and the main choices are stated on the menu which orders were taken from - sides of green leaf salads were supplied on the table with mains, so perhaps this is what you were talking about, as there is no chicken dish on our menu which is inclusive of a salad?I am disappointed that you feel let down by service, as this is something we pride ourselves upon and I will be looking further into this, however as you stated in the beginning, staffing ratio between such a volume of guests is quite a task, and there are many tasks to be completed and prepared for as you soon had dessert following main courses. Also the bar was not intended for self service, however as all manning was required guests decided to help themselves which is not ideal nor recommended, as it did cause pauses in service as we had to investigate which bottles had gone where due to a bar tab being set by your host.I wish you all the best on your travels, and hopefully we will have a chance to impress you again on a more intimate level on a smaller scale as groups are often a larger commitment and less personal.Kind Regards,Oliver W

Two great steaks. Steak salad. Pasta dish. Beers, and a bottle of wine. Plus great service. Thatâs about all you can ask for. I would recommend and would consider going back. No complaints.

This was out fifth visit over many years and it was again a pleasure; delicious meal cooked perfectly with great flavours, presentation with generous portions. Tonight we enjoyed the October Special menu; $68 for 3 courses plus bread to start and a side to share; all were outstanding and we both left throughly satisfied. As always we received excellent professional service in a quiet relaxed setting with a view of the marina and now also the lights on the harbour bridge, thank you again Sails!Regular diners - Fantastic.Thank you Amanda and Fraser for taking the time to write this review. We obviously will see you again soon.

We had just checked into the Sky City Grand and came across this Japanese restaurant. We sat up at the bar and ordered amazing cocktails from a very well informed bar man. We went onto order small dishes to share. The crayfish taco was my favourite but the chicken yakitori, the squid, the spinach salad, the pork slider and the salmon were all so delicious and fresh we will be back. Super impressed

So, after going through multiple reviews, this place caught my attention. It took us a long time to find it , but once in , our orders were taken quickly and food bought out , so service was fine .But , the food was very average !! The chicken dosa was nothing to write home about !!The samosa was just wrong !!Will i come here again- NO !!Hi NrsaranNot sure what you meant by samosa was just wrong, however from your other reviews it is clear that you like Indian restaurants that use food colours and MSG...We refuse to lower to that level just to make dishes something to write home about. The food at Ela is safe, even for people with multiple allergies as we use the high quality predominantly organic ingredients and hence the multiple reviews ascertain it is anything but average.
