This is a lovely restaurant with great food and wonderful service. On arrival they offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco. I highly recommend the prosciutto and the risotto with pear was divine. My husband had the black spaghetti with seafood which was very good. Also had local fish and veal. Very casual local place and lovely decor. The hotel recommended the restaurant and they were right. We shared a bottle of delicious gavi and bill was 130 euros. Excellent

A group of four of us visited as just down from the villa we were staying in. We ended up visiting twice over the week with both visits being perfect. Steak tartar was a particular favourite, although the fish and other courses were also excellent. The chocolate desert was beyond incredible. If ever anywhere near this restaurant it is a must visit. The staff were also brilliant, even although my Italian is awful they put up with me and understood my English without problems.

The food was slightly better than average, but the service was stellar and the outdoor seating on the lake was just tops. The house wines leave something to be desired, but the wine card in pretty decent. The food was not bad, but not anything I'd rave about. Just a simple friendly restaurant with no pretensions.

The restaurant didnât open until 7 so waited till then And weâre seated at an upstairs table. Waiter promptly took care of us and his English was excellent, turns out he was born in the USA. Service was great and the food was well presented and tasty. Prices were reasonable too. Would recommend this restaurant in Orta.

Great views and wonderful balcony for al fresco dining. Also great location to be able to escape the throngs of people that seem to find their way to the town of Orta.The food for us was very good albeit the things we chose off the menu were straight from the 80's. Prawn Cocktail! Really! but was nice and tasty and a great size.Then for mains we had a Steak with mushroom sauce and I chose the steak au poivre. Service was fine, only three tables of diners and we were in no rush.All in all a fun place for lunch.

This is a fantastic restaurant, with quality cooking and quality service. One of the two best restaurants in the area. It deserves its Michelin one star, and more. I tend to feel that the Michelin Guide overrates, that even its 3 stars often do not deserve it. In fact, during this trip to Italy I went to a Michelin three star restaurant, and Locanda di Orta was just as good, and far more reasonably priced. I would highly recommend it.

Receptionist were very welcoming and friendly, and booked us a table for 30 minutes after check in. Upon arriving at the restaurant, servants ignored us at the entrance till we entered ourselves. Table was not ready yet, needed to wait another 15 minutes. The cuisine is suppose to be ânouvelle cuisineâ but really did not turn out as such. Lack of taste, creativity and presentation made our highly anticipated dinner to a disappointment. Even Sparkling Wine we had to pour ourselves from the bottle. Service is arrogant and not up to âMichelinâ star restaurant. The fromage selection was fantastic though. Rest not worth the price !

We spent five days in Orta and had four meals at La Motta. They are closed on Tuesday! This is sufficient for two people to get through all of their menu. We loved everything! Food is great, wines are pretty good, service friendly and helpful. Not to be missed! Outdoor seating is lovely in summer, but there is plenty of room inside too-lots of character in the rooms.

Chef Cannavacciulo is one of the most famous chefs in Italy, a bigger-than-life character on the local Masterchef program. The celebrity status and frequent absence from the restaurant does not affect in any way the absolute excellence of any dish produced for the enjoyment of the guests, though. Traveling from south to north through the tasting menu will allow you to discover and enjoy the perfection of cooking techniques displayed by the talented and passionate team put together by the chef. However, the dishes from Campania on the a la carte menu are the ones that express the heart and soul of Chef Cannavacciulo. The best cuisine experience from a stay at La Villa Crespi will be enjoyed when two evenings are spent at the restaurant, one to discover the various features of the tasting menu, and the following one to get deeper into the life experience of the chef expressed in the cuisine from his home region.
