Lappeenranta (Swedish: Villmanstrand) is a city and municipality situated on the shore of the lake Saimaa in southeastern Finland, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the Russian border. Location on the southern shore of Lake Saimaa makes the city the region’s centre for tourism. Lappeenranta is the second most visited city by Russian tourists in Finland after Helsinki and it competes with Helsinki for the largest share of tax-free sales in Finland. Lappeenranta is a model for renewable energies and a clean living environment. Lappeenranta was the only Finnish city among the 14 finalists in the international Earth Hour City Challenge 2014, organized by WWF.

We visited here twice during our visit to Lappeenranta for lunch. It is so amazing, the outside setting has this feel to it which is hard to describe but it is almost as though it wants to tell you a story,inside is amazing, its like stepping back in time or straight on to a movie set from history, just amazing. On both our visits the food was both very good and good value, if you get the chance to site outside looking over the lake do, it just builds on the atmosphere.Thank you for the feedback. Pleasant to hear that you enjoyed it. We want to maintain a 128-year-old building and bring out its stories, culture and history. Warmly welcome again.

We visited here during special grill weekend they had during August. First we were given seats and menus very quickly, that was good. But they didn't give us any wine or drink list, which we had to ask separately (in their food list there wasn't any drinks at all). They took our order quickly and food also came quite quickly. Food was grilled and it was very good.But after that we were totally ignored. We were sitting in very central place and waitresses were passing us all the time. We were planning to take also some dessert and were waiting someone to take dirty plates away and taking our orders. We could see service happening in neighbour tables, taking plates away, taking orders etc.,. We were clearly finished our dinner and finally we put our empty plates on the edge of the table. This didn't help. It was somehow also funny to have this kind of experience, waitresses were passing us all the time and empty plates were there clearly visible - neighbour tables were served - we didn't. There wasn't very many eaters in the restaurant and one waitress had even time to play with the dog which was passing by. After 35 minutes of waiting we decided not to take any dessert and we ordered the check. It came quickly and then they finally took also the dirty plates away. It is sad that good food was spoiled somehow unprofessional service and this time the restaurant also lost money because we would have taken dessert. This restaurant is quite pricy and if they want to survive they should do something for their service.

We have heard so much about this place and finally had opportunity to visit the place for lunch. We tried fried muikku and fried game meat. The food was delicious and despite the place being crowded service was quick. Unlike many lunch place, dishes are prepared and served to individual order. While waiting for the main course to arrive, one can enjoy delicious soup and salads. The menu changes daily so there is chance to try several dishes on different days. Although its little far from the city center but it's worth a visit if you are fortress or harbor area.

This restaurant serves breakfast buffet in the mornings: Belgian Waffles are its speciality. In the evenings it serves a very good dinner. You have a tasting menu of 3 or 5 courses to which you can select a wine package of a matching wine to each course. Or you can opt for the á la Carte options, which was my choice. There was a surprise from the kitchen, amuse-bouche, which was followed by my starter of veal sweetbread. It was accompanied by cranberry jam and lingonberry jam, and a piece of dark malt bread.The acidity of the jams were perfect with the sweetness of the bread and the veal sweetbread that was perfectly cooked.My main course was Iberico pork. There was a piece of cheek and a cutlet with new potatoes, carrot and water grass.Unfortunately the cutlet with less fat was overcooked and dry, while the fattier piece was just perfect. They should have been cooked separately as they needed different cooking times.The setting of the food on the plate is very beautiful - you can enjoy you meal not only with you mouth, but with your eyes, too.The wine list was adequate, and quite moderately priced. And there were a number of wines by the glass, too.The service was friendly, and polite. The restaurant is casual. Although most of the customers seemed to be guests of the SPA hotel, you can also walk in from the street.Hello Juhani,Thanks for your excellent feedback. I was amazed by the quality of Avot sie's food and ingridients. At the lunchtime the salad table is filled with all kinds of fresh, tasty things not forgetting protein. Was there olive oil? Only thing that was missing on the table. Really it was so great! The vegan diet has also be remarked well: one of the lunch meal is always vegan and coffee is served with oat milk.One remarkable thing is that the restaurant has local bread and locally brewed coffee. A big plus!I can not believe I just paid a bit over 10 euros for that everything I got: A salad buffet, the vegan hamburger meal (it was huge!) and a coffee with an apple pie desert.I am going again any time soon!!

Went for birthday-treat and had startes, main course and dessert and wine to go with them. Starters were really mouth melting garpachio, so smooth. Main course was lamb and rice and veggies, lamb was very soft and tasty and very big portion :) Dessert was choclate cake with ice cream and stuff and that is always so good! We were so full when we left :D Waitresses were really friendly and helpful,lovely girls all of them though they had busy evening!

We were surprised what kind of a place this was; the expectations were quite different. Säräpirtti is a very classy and nice restaurant with a beautiful location. The introduction held by the staff was really nice and raised expectations for the food. And the food: simple, delicious and very filling. Only tender lamb seasoned with salt, potatoes, bread and finally sweet raisin soup as a dessert. A bit pricey but on acceptable level considering the premises and the service. This place is really worth a visit, definitely more than just a lunch or dinner.

My husband and I recently had lunch at Wolkoff. The ambiance was lovely and comfortable and the service was welcoming and attentive.For lunch, the restaurant offers a salad bar and a choice between two main dishes. The items at the salad bar were fresh and delicious and we enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana.If had spent more time in Lappeenranta, we would have returned to this restaurant for dinner.
