Top 10 Room Escape Games in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PA)

March 2, 2022 Randal Brittian

One of the most historic cities in America, Philadelphia is an ideal place to spend a weekend - preferably a long one. Be sure to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were signed. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. Philadelphia also boasts some outstanding art museums, including the Rodin Museum. The Franklin Institute Science Museum is one of many area attractions honoring the life and work of Benjamin Franklin, the city's most famous ambassador. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Escape the 1980s

You're stuck in a 1980s time warp. Your group has 60 minutes to get through four rooms and find clues that will unlock doors, open padlocks, and hack into computer systems. Your goal is to get "back to the future". Make calls from push button 80s phones....enter a "secret code" into a talking computer system...press "musical notes" to unlock doors - and tons more. Knight Rider, the Goonies, Walkie Talkies and much more. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, going out on a date, doing something rad with friends or looking for some non-dorky team building - this is a totally righteous, most unusual adventure.

We were in Philly celebrating a 50th birthday and this was the perfect activity to end a day of site-seeing in the historic area. Everyone in our group of 5 had a great time, even the one who was reluctant at first! They recommend 6 or more but we completed the game with 8 minutes to spare, and it was just us. Given that we all grew up in the 80's made this even more fun, but you don't have to get all the references to have a great time. As an added bonus there is a bar just outside in the Bourse building to get drinks before and/or after (and you can find coupons for free beer and other snacks). I highly recommend this place.

MindEscape

MindEscape is a boutique escape room. All of our rooms and puzzles were designed from scratch and provide an experience that just makes sense. We've really put a lot of effort into creating a unique adventure that provides a flow that is part of the story and a "goal" that is clearly visible. The puzzles themselves were designed to be "language agnostic", and appeal to non-English speakers. Also, no external knowledge is required to succeed - only to have fun! We also strongly believe that customer experience is THE number one priority and we treat our customers, the same way we like to be treated. Our game masters are talentered performers and are monitoring your progress every second of the game. They will help you along if you are struggling but can also provide no clues at all, if prefered.

Very cleverly designed! Everyone in our group, ages 23-63, LOVED the challenges in The Midnighters room. It was thrilling, fun, and highly satisfying when we were able to solve a puzzle, which then opened up a new set of challenges. Teamwork is the name of the game, and everyone contributed in their unique way. The staff were so accommodating with our request for a booking time. It was the perfect activity for our group of family and friends! We highly recommend Olde City Escape Games and look forward to exploring the second escape room next time we visit Philadelphia.

The dig was so much fun and employees are so nice there. My family and I went (group of 20 years and older) and we had a lot of fun figuring the puzzles out. Wouldn’t recommend for small children.
