Ronnally’s Pizza

Reviewed By MarkA1206 - Saint Paul, Minnesota

We've been using TripAdvisor on our travels for a number of years now and my family of 4 has never been steered wrong by a review, until now. We had dinner at Ronnally's this past weekend, and we were collectively unimpressed and left to wonder how on earth this place earnedrved its #1 ranking for all restaurants in Woodbury, MN. Everything about the food was plainly average, or worse. The mushrooms on the pizza were out of a can. The green peppers and onions on the pizza were from packages, not cleaned and sliced/chopped in the kitchen, just like you'd get from Papa Murphy's or any other pizza chain. One of three side salads ordered had a really nasty piece of slimy spoiled lettuce in it, not something you'd ever see in an elite (#1 rated) restaurant. In addition, the place was tiny and the seating was cramped. We could easily have reached over and helped ourselves to the pizza on a neighbor's table. I just don't get the #1 rating. We've had much better pizza at Punch Pizza in Woodbury, and when it comes to family run Italian/Pizza places, Donatelli's in White Bear Lake puts Ronnally's to shame. Don't get me wrong, the food/experience at Ronnally's wasn't terrible, but there's no way this place deserves the #1 rating in Woodbury. My family would rather eat at Culver's, Panda Express, Famous Dave's, Davani's, Leann Chin, The Keys, and Punch Pizza if we're looking for a meal in Woodbury. Even Arby's, Wendy's, or Pei Wei would be better than this.

This has been our go to for yummy cupcakes for holidays and special occasions. They are the best. Cookie dough, lemon drop, and red velvet were our last purchased. They were all very moist! I would rate this place a five, but they are super expensive. Like I said they are worth it for special occasions though! Yum!!!

Angelinas Kitchen Italian restaurant and wine bar

Reviewed By J N - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Went there on Saturday for a date. We arrived early to avoid the (about 4:45 pm) to avoid the dinner rush. We had never been there and were highly anticipating a wonderful dinner based upon all the reviews on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately turned out to be a huge disappointment.

It appeared really nice but as we were waiting to be seated the hostess was talking to another employee and she appeared to be complaining about something. Should not do that in front of guests. Not a big deal though as we came here for the food.

We were waited on promptly and needed some time to review the menu since we had not been here before. We eventually decided to get an appetizer (prosciutto and Asparagus). My date ordered coffee as she was a bit chilly.

The appetizer arrived but the coffee did not and after many minutes I had to remind the server that she ordered coffee. She apoligized and brought the coffee but something simple like that should not be forgotten and she wanted this right away to warm up as the restaurant was initially on the chilly side as well.

Before the appetizer arrived we got 3 skinny pieces of bread with a dipping bowl. The dipping bowl was just olive oil and balsamic that was on the bottom of the bowl and despite holding your bread in there for awhile, you barely were able to get anything but the oil. The bread was rather anemic and the dipping bowl nothing but olive oil. Have had much better.

The appetizer arrived and although decent it could have been much better since the tips of the Asparagus were burned in places and that overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

As for the Entrees, they do not come with Salad or anything other than the initial 3 skinny slices of bread that you get when you sit down. So everything is Ala Carte.

The Marsala braised beef was tender but was swimming in liquid. Taste was ok but have had better. The spaghetti and meatball dish however had to be sent back. This is just spaghetti and meatball ...how much easier can you get. The reason that it had to be sent back was the spaghetti was not cooked correctly. It was not because they use fresh pasta as the server suggested. It was not properly cooked...not even to the Al Dente stage. Eventually, the new dish arrived but was a bit on the skimpy side as if they decided not to put as much in the bowl. Although cooked properly to Al Dente stage at that point the meatball was not even hot. It was if they had taken it out of a cooler and simply put it in with the hot spaghetti and sauce. The original meatball was nice and hot. So two slip ups on a relatively simple dish. At this point I was not going to try to track down our server again especially since my date had almost already finished her dinner at that time.

The chocolate cake was delicious but at this point there was not much that could be done to save the experience. As I said a major disappointment for a meal that was supposed to be for a special night.

Five Guys Burger and Fries

Reviewed By jun_barnes - Makati, Philippines

One of the best burgers and fries I have ever tasted. Burgers were cooked upon ordering and fries were made from freshly cut potatoes. Both have great flavors, tasted fresh, and were served generously. Their regular burgers and fries were really big (I barely finished half of the serving) so better go for the "little" ones if you don't have a big appetite. Service was fast and the staff were friendly.

The only issue I had was that the place was a mess with all the peanut shells and used tissue all over the floor and tables. A little cleaning will make the restaurant a much better place to dine in.

Happy Hour is legit! Tap beer is $2 off (makes pint around $5).

$4 cheese curds, perfectly battered and served with smoked blueberry ketchup (trust me, it's delish). Large portion, easily feeds 2 people.

$6 half flatbread - get the bacon brie (multiple options)! Good size, ample toppings.

Without happy hour, prices for food and drink can be a bit spendy. Sat at bar, service was friendly and prompt. Fantastic beer selection. Great place to meet friends!

Have been to this restaurant many times before and LOVED it (see previous review)...but after my most recent visit, I'm concerned they may be slipping a little.

Met a friend for dinner at 6:00 p.m...the atmosphere is lovely, but half the dining room was closed off (to not be used) and of the remaining dozen (or so tables), only about half were filled. I requested a booth by the window--not a problem at all. From where I was seated, I could see that the bar area had very few patrons in it.

Once my friend arrived, we ordered a bottle of wine...there is an extensive wine list. Prices are high (as they usually are in a fine restaurant)...this particular one was $44, for a wine that sells in my local liquor store for $18...and I believe that's higher than we've paid for the same wine on previous recent visits.

Our server told us the specials, took our order for the wine, brought the wine...we told her we were in no hurry, so she left us to chat and enjoy our wine. When we did finally flag her down to order, she told us that she was going to be getting off the clock, so she'd be handing us over to another server (the only other server in the restaurant)...clearly it was a slow night and they didn't need her there.

Our new server came over a while later to take our order...all of their food is excellent...my favorite is their chicken with lemon, artichoke hearts and asparagus, which I ordered. As per usual, I asked to substitute pasta for their garlic mashed potatoes--no problem. My friend ordered the mostaccioli.

Both arrived shortly thereafter, looking great, however there was no asparagus. I brought this to the server's attention immediately and he said they consider the garlic mashed and the asparagus as the same side, so they don't include it when they sub in pasta as the side. I asked whether that was a change, since they've always included the asparagus in the past. He said no, that's the way the chef wants it and they've always done it. He added that if I've had it done that way in the past, the servers have been doing it incorrectly. However, he said that if I wanted the asparagus, he would get it for me...which he did...four small asparagus spears--the usual amount. He was very pleasant about it--not rude, nor unfriendly at all. However, it did make me wonder if they're trying to cut some corners from a cost-saving perspective.

The quality of our meals, however, was still excellent.

The other couple of issues...we never received any bread and our water glasses were never refilled after the first placement.

The total bill for the evening (a bottle of wine and two dinners, both of which were under $20--but no appetizers, nor desserts) including tip was $102...seems just a bit pricey for what we received.

I'm a part of their loyalty club, and really enjoy this dining spot...I just hope my most recent experience isn't indicative of a troubled future for them...as this time wasn't up to the same level as our previous visits.

I've been in this area several times when going to Nothing Bundt Cakes (also delicious). We decided to give Ducs a try after asking a couple walking out if it was good. They said they liked it. First thought was it looked nice and clean and roomy. Ordered egg roll and noodle salad and chicken fried rice to share. It was so fresh and the best I've ever had! I usually go to a similar restaurant in Duluth that I thought was the best, but this is my new favorite. So glad we stopped in, I'm already craving it again.
