Savor Grill

After a really long road trip, we found this great place online. So delicious!!! It was completely worth the stop. It is clean and casual. Alexis was our server and she was attentive, pleasant, and took wonderful care of us. We had an appetizer of fried mushrooms that was amazing. I ordered the Kentucky Bourbon burger with skillet potatoes and onions. I swear it was the best burger I have had on years. My husband loved his New York Strip woth bbq topped baked potato and salad. Yop all that off with a pitcher of sweet tea and we are happy campers. We will definitely recommend this place and come back. Thanks for a nice visit!

This is a newer trendy looking coffee/ice cream shop in a newer part of town. We only had coffee and cookies, which were average. We saw several people eating sandwiches which looked pretty good. One unisex bathroom with poor ventilation. Popular locals hang out.

Grandma's Kitchen

Reviewed By CARL H - Mexico, Missouri

Just back from a very enjoyable 1400 mile top-down scenic byway cruze thru Arkansas and S.Missouri without reservations.
As we travel the back roads in pursuit of curiosities we try and avoid chains and look for locally owned and operated establishments.
After spending the previous night in Mammoth Springs we were hoping to find a nice lil mom n' pop diner for a good country breakfast and wow did we ever...
We turned off scenic Hwy 19 into the small town of Alton, Mo and on the corner of the town square was this big old brick building that housed Grandma's Kitchen.
As we stepped inside the atmosphere was warm and friendly with many antiques and collectables on display.
We enjoyed a very tasty breakfast and great service and old fashioned small town prices.
Now, Grandma's Kitchen in Alton, Mo. is on our list of places to stop while in the area.
Check em out, you'll be glad ya did.

I go to Chantilly's Artisan Bakery every now and then. I hadn't been in some time since I'm not working in West Plains. I stopped in when I was in West a Plains and got an Artisan white loaf, a Oreo Cupcake, and a Margarita Cupcake. Mary was very friendly and explained each selection. I ate a cupcake out in the car before I drove off. There's no doubt this is the best food on the square.

The people were friendly. The food was ready quickly they reassured that your order was correct. They are also military friendly there. The restaurant was clean although it looked smaller than other Dairy Queen's.

This is a small restored older downtown place with thin crust (not cracker) pizza, mild tom sauce and plenty of cheese and toppings. We had a small "Ozark" pie, which was a meat lovers special, drinks, all in for $11. Too cheap; they need to charge more for such good pizza.

My husband and I really enjoy walking to the Court House Square where we may take a step back in time at this great little café located in the old Aid Hardware building, built in 1914. The lunch wrap was just great and there are always pastries or pies waiting for desert. If you have time, you can peruse the store for antiques after coffee.

After trying a different restaurant every week while we were there for dr. appts, we like Ozark Cafe the best. Good variety, nice specials, friendly staff & owner, plenty of seating too. They recently remodeled the exterior & it looks good. Of course, we have our favorite waitress. I don't think she ever has a bad day. :) Will be there again Sunday & Monday & again on 10/25.

Fish Shack

Reviewed By graybeard60 - Denver, Colorado

The first rule of fried catfish: No matter what kind of breading one should still be able to taste the fish. Sadly, this was not my experience here despite the many positive reviews. I’ve eaten a lot of good catfish over the years, especially in coastal Georgia, so I do have some prior history. To be fair, the restaurant was very busy the weekend night I went, so maybe it was just a bad night. A goodly number of fish pieces were served with “country” breading. But this breading was quite thick and I actually needed a fork and knife, with some pressure, to cut thru it. Inside were the smallish catfish pieces. I suspect fish spent way too much time in the fryer. The hush puppies had a similar rock-hard presentation. They were basically inedible. The coleslaw and the fried were tasty. The servers were quite pleasant even though they were running like crazy to keep up. Perhaps a less busy night might be better.

El Charro Mexican Restaurant

Reviewed By 599vern - West Plains, Missouri

This restaurant always has good Mexican "Style" food. Good service, even though some of the waiters do not speak "Inglis" very well. Have two of the El Charro restaurants in town, so if one is busy we go to the other.
