Located in the center of town, this is one of my favorite places in Darmstadt. They have outdoor Seating, great food and beer. You can people watch for hours here, and make new friends in the process. Highly recommend you give them a try. Located in the central plaza "Marktplatz" across for the Palace.

The Sitte which is on the edge of Darmstadt city centre has been serving diners for well over a century. The brewery restaurant is not just a great place to quench your thirst, but it also offers delicious food for all appetites. The menu offers traditional cuisine, such as Tafelspitz (boiled beef Viennese style), Hesse potato soup, Vesperteller (a cold plate) as well as North German pizza and Italian inspired meat dishes. The menu itself is vast, and is further enhanced by a range of culinary promotions. The restaurant offers a reasonably priced lunchtime menu from 12 noon to 2 pm.

We came to Sitte fairly early in our year's stay in Darmstadt. There are many good restaurants in the city but Sitte became our favourite German restaurant, the place to go when friends came to visit, for a special occasion or just because we felt like a meal out. For the summer there is a pleasant outside courtyard but we have usually sat inside. The food is traditional German with seasonal specialities depending on the time of year. The beer is very good. We have always found the service very good.
When it came to going out for a final dinner in Darmstadt before returning to live in the UK going to Sitte was the obvious choice, and we were not disappointed. The autumn menu had just started and the Hirschbraten with red cabbage was excellent. We hope that we will be going back to Darmstadt on occasion in the future and when we do will will make sure that we book a table at Sitte.

My husband and I discovered Haroun's on the last day of our 6 week stay in Darmstadt, and for this we are very sorry. We would have patronized them regularly if we had known them sooner. The food at this place is excellent. At least dishes numbers 36 and 37. The service was good, the place spotless. And Haroun himself served us and was very personable. Definitely recommend.

We've visited Thai restaurants in many cities around the world, including in Thailand itself (about 6 trips) and not yet found one better than Ban Thai. The curries are excellent, the cocktails delicious and the service friendly. Quality and value are consistently high. We've taken many visitors to Darmstadt there and all were impressed.
Only slight drawback, the outside Seating in summer is not the nicest spot to sit, being overlooked by apartments.
Try it, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to reserve a table if going at the weekend (apart from Summer when people tend to go to places with nicer outdoor seating) since it is understandingly popular.
Lunch menu is a good value.

I went to this restaurant yesterday. I don't drink alcohol so I ordered "Weissbier alkoholfrei" beer which is alcohol-free beer. The food is fresh and very tasty. I would recommend "Rustikales Vesperbrett" (a tradition cold meats with cheese). The atmosphere is lively and feel comfortable and this place is nearby Darmstadt main train station.

This restaurant just opened at the end of November 2010 and advertises itself as selling Mongolian, Japanese, Chinese and Thai food. It is a very large restaurant but nicely divided into sections and obviously caters for customers wanting to help themselves from the large selection at the buffet. You can also put together raw ingredients and they will be cooked on the grill for you and brought to your table. We were a group of 6 and we all really enjoyed the food - the buffet was replenished frequently and the food nice and hot. I think if you wanted to order from the menu you would have to wait quite a while to be served.
As the restaurant is still fairly new, I don't think they have quite got the ratio of staff/customers right yet - we had to wait for someone to take our drinks orders and it took a fairly long time to bring us the bill. The waiter however was very apologetic and gave us plenty of presents to take home!
There was also a baby grand piano in the middle - not sure it is the correct kind of restaurant to have live music. With the large number of customers getting up and walking to the buffet, the music cannot really be appreciated.
Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a party of around 30-40 people. The place looks nice, courteous staff. However service was really slow for the first hour and a bit, barely got drinks each waiter was coming with 3 drinks on a tray and people were fighting over who gets it because it was soo hot. The AC barely worked. Starters were too less. But then they made up with the mains and desserts. Mixed grill platters were really waiter said beef may not be halal so had lamb kebab; lamb cubes and chicken. The chicken was probably the best, with a light safron and lime marinate, grilled to perfection.

Ferrucci represents high level Italian cuisine, therefore you need to be prepared to pay a little more but it is worth it. From the quality of food and wine to the way everything is impeccably presented you cannot say the price is not justified. Not for everyday but definitely for a very special day.

The restaurant is very nice and comfortable, the menu has a smaller selection on meals.
I had Meat with vegetables and potatoes, the meat didn't have any taste to me and the sides were very small. Maybe I just didn't choose the right meal, I would give it one more try.
The staff was very nice !!!
