Corteinfiore

Reviewed By Rosetana - Washington,DC

Corteinfiore specializes in seafood. It's fresh, fresh, fresh and creatively prepared. They have many different appetizers and you could almost make a meal of them. Extensive crudo menu--the one we tried was carpaccio of red shrimp that had been pounded flat with a preserved lemon sauce. They also have a warm appetizer platter that is their signature dish of several different fish--a baccala croquette, fried shrimp, grilled octopus, etc. We had a pasta with clams for our main but after the antipasti it was really too much. The restaurant is like a garden with citrus and fruit trees around the perimeter and adding to the garden atmosphere the tables and chairs were metal outdoor furniture. It's on a street parallel to the seaside Promenade. You won't have a water view but the food is better than the tourist spots on the water and the atmosphere inside is like an oasis on a hot day. You can easily walk here from the Trani Cathedral, the main tourist site.

When some of my friends in Manhattan talked about this restaurant few miles away from my hometown, I thought I have absolutely to dine in. I did it, and I'd do again if I were living there. The restaurant is on the Promenade of the seaport in Trani, which means that you can enjoy a delightful view of the old town. Since I'm from the area but I live in Manhattan I can definitely tell you it deserves the money and a trip (if you are in Salento, take a car and come here just for them). Alessandro, the owner, has fantastic taste and suggested us a great wine. The raw seafood was absolutely amazing as well as the primo and the dessert (we had no secondo). I suggest to visit it very often, since the menu is seasonal (as Gramercy Tavern in NYC).

After a short trip around the streets close to our b&b to select somewhere interesting to have our last dinner in Trani we selected Osteria Frangipane. We had the tasting menu. Every course was great. Excellent ingredients were beautifully cooked and presented in an innovative way. Service was also great with explanation of each course by the staff. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and we found the sommelier charming and happy to recommend a bottle that matched our meals.

Warm and welcoming. My 7 year old was fed immediately and warmly accommodated in the outside garden. The location is slightly removed from the hubbub of the port and benefits from this.
The food is freshly made and the service is exemplary. The chocolate soufflé is to die for. Great wine and a wonderful selection of whiskeys.

Quintessenza

A contemporary Mediterranean cuisine with roots on Puglia, tasty and light, affordable and understandable, made of elegance and concentration of flavors, always emphasizing simplicity and aiming to preserve the identity of each ingredient not to confuse it.

Reviewed By IntlTraveller21stc - London, UK

Quintessenza is a small restaurant with simple contemporary decor located in the charming city of Trani. Much like the decor, the menu features pared back dishes that use relatively few ingredients and instead focus on the produce itself, ensuring that its flavours shine through.
Out of the dishes that we ate, of particular note was a straightforward sounding salad of white and french beans; the dish itself had an incredible depth of flavour achieved by different treatments of the beans from grilling to steaming and everything was bought together with a very well balanced dressing; the whole dish just tasted of summer (my description does not begin to do it justice). A couple of pasta dishes were well executed. A fish course of cod served with a tomato and bread paste and a basil and mozzarella water sauce sounds odd on paper but tasted delicious bringing together classic flavours in a new way. Desserts were good too ranging from a twist on classic flavours of peach to a coconut and lime creation.
Service throughout was attentive and the bill confirmed that it was excellent value for money; highly recommended and I will definitely return when I am next in the region.

A la carte restaurant, located in the historic center of Trani, a short walk from the Castle and the Cathedral and surrounded by a sea smell. A small elegantly understated location that creates an intimate and magical to be lulled by the emotions of the culinary creations on the sweet notes of jazz music. The environment is minimal, framed by an old structure turned around in local , where to catch the essence of Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist according to an interpretation of the chef. The love of tradition and curiosity for innovation blend the passion and creativity of Chef Patron Michele Elia. Always attentive to marry with fantasy and care the traditional flavors of Apulian cuisine with the most modern cooking techniques and sophisticated combinations, implementing an original and genuine product. My best meal in Puglia. An exceptional combination of traditional and gourmet cooking.
Each course was made with fresh fish and produce. The appetizers were varied and unique. Tuna Tartare with cucumber and melon,
délicate carpaccio of spiegola, octopus in
light cream sauce, aubergine stuffed with moist fish. Main course of FRESH sea urchins with
home made spaghetti. Then sea bream with light sauce of almonds, mint and ricotta. Dessert was 6 individual and unique petits-fours. Each one was a unique sweet taste with
a hint of something savory and an airy froth.
All accompanied by a light house vino bianco.
Bravo il cuoco and our guide Paola who made this last evening in Puglia an exceptional one.
