We had dinner on the Terrace watching over Ambiorix and the Market. It's actually a very cosy place to have a seat, to watch other people, to watch cars passing by etc. We ordered a 'Steppegras' which you British / American / Dutch will all love! A big piece of meat covered with ultra thin fries! Delicious guys, go order it and rate helpfull ;-)
the staff is quite nice and served us also good wine for a reasonable price. For sure recommended!

Good friendly service, even though quite slow. The restaurant was absolutely packed, so that was possibly the reason.
All food was beautifully presented. Very nice choice of wines, we picked Pouilly Fumé and were definitely not disappointed.
However, food was unpredictable and "unstable" quality-wise. One of the starters (lobster and tomato variations) was absolutely delightful, an explosion of colour and taste and very well cooked. One of the best dishes I've ever had.
The second starter (cod) was again beautifully presented, but borderline uneatable as was super super saulty. A great pity as you could see the base product was of amazing quality, such a pity it was spoilt...
Then came the main course (beef) which was just ok, but the whole dish was very flat taste-wise.
The desert of apricot cake was tasty and a spoonful of basil sorbet added a touch of welcome freshness.
All in all a rather disappointing experience.

Compared with other restaurants in Tongeren, this is probably the best price/quality in town. We took the surprise 4 menu with adapted wines for €75 and really had a wonderful experience. It was worth every cent and penny. Quality of food, drinks, service and atmosphere: all where top! Full of locals also, to celebrate special occasions. Go there and you will see.

Le 54

Le 54 is a small, pleasantly styled restaurant (about 24 couverts). Apart from having to choose from an Italy-oriented wine list, the only thing you need to decide is whether to opt for a three (38 Euro), four, or five-course (55 Euro) dinner. We opted for the full monty. Each dish, including the amuse, was refined and nicely presented. The only drawback was that the whole meal took about 3 hours. But given the quality of the dinner, we did not regret going to Le 54 and having to wait for so long. Reserving is recommended.

After visiting the Gallo-Romeins Museum and the fantastic exhibition, it was time to go for lunch. We had a voucher and did not have a reservation. Nevertheless there was no problem at all. For some reason only in Antwerp the waiters treat you as a nuisance instead of a valued customer. We enjoyed a great shrimp croquette appetizer and the main course of fresh salmon and vegetables was widely appreciated. Just a place to visit and relax.

We had visited this restaurant once before about 3 years ago and had not been very happy with the service or food. However we decided to give it another chance, that was a mistake.Service was shocking, the women who waited on us was obviously there under sufferance. She was very slow and kept forgetting things. We had the set menu and the first part was soup which was thin but O.K. then the fish which was the best part. However we all three of us had what they said was suckling pig. Well we have had it many times in Spain and this was nothing like suckling pig. It seemed to have been broiled. Skin was soft and limp, hardly cooked the flesh was pink and looked awful. When we were asked if things were O.K we said no and explianed why. The waitress just turned on us and said it was because we were Americn and liked meat well done. I started to point out we were English and that was not the case this was pork and not Beef or Lamb. However she flounced off. When the desert came it was inedible. Nothing like a strawberry tiramasu. More like broken biscuits in a moose of some sort. Could not eat it. When asked by a man at the end of the meal we told him No but he just carried on taking our money and did not say anything. So we left never to return

I ordered shrimps in a basket with country potatoes for 14.80€ and I got 8 very small shrimp with a tiny plastic cup of sauce in a cardboard bowl with a small cardboard bowl with potatoes. If a burger WITH vegatables and potatoes cost about 8€ or less I would at least expect a decent size shrimp or some kind of garnish.I think it is not done to charge these prices when you want to serve this kind of food in this way. Food was okay, not great, drinks were not cold enough and service friendly but not always around, although we were almost the last table in the house. Not coming back here. People at the table noted that burgers had way too much bread.

We found this cosy, informal inn in the Bagijnhof of Tongeren. Terrace with very nice atmosphere as it is surrounded by the historic buildings of the Bagijnhof..
We ordered the spare ribs and got promptly served a big amount for a decent price. Good tasting also!
So overall an enjoyable experience.

Ate there for a family get together. I have reviewed this restaurant before, but after some time, I was glad to notice it was equally good quality food, well cooked with splendid ingredients and nicely presented. We went for lunch and were informed we could choose dishes from the "evening" menu. We had four courses and coffee. The wines are carefully selected and of excellent quality (Spanish, Italian, Australian), a very good pairing with the food. Five nibbles (all equally delicious) to start with. Coffee came with a variety of sweet dishes. Ambience is very agreeable. The owner (also maitre d') goes out of his way to please, but is a little loud when announcing the courses or the menu. It is very clear that he learned his text well, but softer would be nicer. In the whole picture of things, this, however, is just a detail.

This bistro, on the market of Tongeren has it all.
From sandwiches to pasta, from snacks to restaurant food.
Delicious, fresh, prices are reasonable.
Just modernised to a very spacious and modern bistro.
You can also enjoy your food and drinks on the terras.
Nice and refreshing in the summer under the umbrellas as nice and comfy in the winter with the heating.
