Thurmont is a town in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The population was 6,170 at the 2010 census. The town is located in the northern part of Frederick County (north of Frederick, Maryland, the county seat), approximately ten miles from the Pennsylvania border, along U.S. Highway 15. It is very close to Cunningham Falls State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park, which contains the presidential retreat of Camp David. Thurmont is also home to Catoctin Colorfest, an arts and crafts festival that draws in about 125,000 people each autumn.

We stopped by here on a Saturday for a late lunch after spending a few hours at Liberty Mountain across the PA border. They didn't have much on tap and the prices were high for what you got. The salad bar was tiny and anything that was "pickled" had an interesting (not in a good way) flavor. The fries were quite good and my daughter liked the dessert. Not much to speak of and we won't be going back. 80%+ of the patrons were 60 years old or older. Our waitress (Ashton, I believe) was great. The parking lot was interesting - we parked to the left of the building in angled parking spaces, but it turned out we couldn't get out in the direction one would suppose as there was no exit. We had to awkwardly reverse a way out.

This place was recommended to us by the hotel staff as the most popular Thurmont restaurant frequented by locals. It is a relatively small venue with simple warm decor and does give a pleasant grassroots impression.The food was unfortunately not quite to our taste. Unsophisticated comfort food loaded with sugar and salt. The broccoli and cheese soup tasted like a salty bowl of starch. I just had to leave most of it uneaten, unfortunately. I also had their famous crab cakes. They were ok. The sides were inedible. The cranberry sauce was pearly in appearance and had texture of crystallized sugar. Their patrons must like augmented sweetness.
It is a nice place with it's own style but I would not go back due to food.

It is hard to find but worth the search.The bento box for lunch was delicious and plentiful. I took leftovers home with me. The service was good and we would definitely stop here again.

This is one of our "goto" spots when we just don't have time to fix dinner at home and need to have a great home-cooked meal at a restaurant. The burgers are great as well as the "pit" meat sandwiches and BBQ. My favorite sandwich is the JB chicken which comes with provolone and bacon, topped with a a sweet and spicy homemade BBQ sauce. The prices are a steal! If you are in Thurmont definitely stop by for some great food for a great price.

Stopped for lunch with a friend while passing through the area. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was out quickly. Nothing fancy....just a sandwich and fries. Easy on and off the highway. It worked OK for a quick lunch.

This is a locally owned establishment. Whenever we order from here, we always do carry out. Tell him to take Euler reason why, we just enjoying their food at home.
It is quality food at a great price. Their subs are always loaded with lots of meat. I usually get the Italian cold cut with lettuce tomato and onions. It's my go to.
Our new theory has become the meatball sub. Homemade meatballs...you can't go wrong!!

A year or so ago this restaurant changed ownership - I went with family and friends about 5x and I am sad to report that this restaurant is now just another average Chinese restaurant. Now the best Chinese in Thurmont is Simply Asia - more money, but better food and experience.

Roy Rodgers once was a national franchise, ended up in the hands of a local management group with several franchises in Frederick county. Menu includes roast beef sandwiches, chicken, burgers, fries and specialty sandwiches. Food is a nice change from the McDonald's and Burger King menu's. The Roy's in Thurmont is a tad slow in the evening but service generally is great.

Had lunch here and ordered the "Fratellis Special" pizza, had pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, mushrooms, green peppers & black olives....really good! Loved the sauce. Also ordered fried mushrooms and a Cannoli to go. Everything was good. Friendly waitstaff while we visited, unlike some of the other reviews. They even suggested some hiking trails! Would definitely eat here again when in the area!
