Six Burner Bistro

This higher end eatery, is definitely the place to get a great meal in Plymouth. Having enjoyed lunch on two previous visits, I was eager to sample their dinner menus. We were not disappointed. Imaginative cocktails warmed our first minutes on this cold evening. For starters the poached oysters were excellent. Our entrees of NY Trip and Pan Seared Duck were accompanied by mashed potatoes and rice respectively, with ample root vegetables. Both were perfectly prepared, presented, and consumed with pleasure. For dessert we shared the Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse and proclaimed the meal a perfect experience.
I’d recommend reserving a table. We were lucky, arriving a few a few minutes after opening (5pm) and were seated at the last available table.
A bit more refined than most college town establishments, the visit is well worth it.

We used to live here when Mad River was down the street. We were recently back visiting, and got the opportunity to visit their expanded location. Boy, they haven't lost their touch, either! We went here for afternoon coffee and in the mornings
for breakfast every day we were in the area. Also brought home a package of their coffee. They'll grind your favorite blend right there for you, according to what kind
of coffee maker you have at home. They always keep several pots of different blends out for hot coffee, and a jug for iced coffee as well. A lovely selection of pastries and muffins is available, and I noticed they also offer take-home soups and dinners as well. We split a cannoli, which was very decadent. I prefer getting the iced chai, which they offer with coffee ice cubes, or the hot chocolate. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are amazing, with a variety of meats, bagels and cheeses available. Service is also quick and friendly. They play some really excellent music and have all kinds of comfy seating and books and a chess board to relax with. I wish we could have been there on the nights I hear they offer some excellent live music as well. Check them out, you won't be disappointed at any time of the day!!

The Little Red Schoolhouse

Reviewed By GoneTravelin07 - Boston

Given it's not on the coast, the seafood here was surprisingly good. We had some lobster rolls, an order of whole belly fried clams, fries and the kids went for it and had a pretty tasty milkshake while we tried the fresh squeezed lemonade (excellent) and then followed that up with a beer. Great screened-in seating area that is built out over a wooded ravine. While it was a hot summer day outside, the dining area actually stayed quite cool. We went for a late lunch, so there were very few customers when we showed up, but they do have additional seating at picnic tables outside near the parking lot. This is not a place with wait staff. It's very casual - you order at the counter and they'll call you when your order is ready. This is easily one of those places you might zip right by in the car if you aren't actively seeking it out, but glad we found this. I would definitely return.

Busy Dunkin' Donuts, conveniently located just off the highway either on your way to ski at Waterville Valley, climb Mount Tecumseh or leaf peep on a lazy fall week-end. Place was very busy with long lines, but use your DD App and skip the wait. I ordered while walking in and the wait was about 4-5 minutes, but not bad considering there were probably 10 people in line and 4-5 waiting for their orders.

I also enjoyed the brine chicken with mashed potatoes and brocolii. Service was very good and we had a nice river view.

Mad River Tavern

Reviewed By SMF2_On-The-Go - Annapolis, Maryland

It was getting late and after a day of hiking, we needed a hearty meal.
We happened by this place and it wasn't too busy for a Saturday night around 8pm.
The waitress was quick but seems to be new or distracted. Asked us several times if we had questions but then would say I'll be right back and then never answered our questions.
Calamari order was huge and the dipping sauce was okay. Then ordered two steaks (one medium rare and one well), but both were cooked exactly the same, pink. Fries were okay. Had a glass of wine from the short wine list.
All in all everyone was friendly and food was quick but could have been better.

Sunset Grill

Reviewed By Objective-NOT-PC - Boston, Massachusetts

We visited Sunset Grill based upon the recommendation of a friend. We also read Trip Advisor reviews in advance of our trip - of course!

The experience was quite good overall:

The BBQ meats were truly smoked and NOT simply braised then slathered with BBQ sauce as is often the case with so many other restaurants that sell what they call "BBQ".
The meat was delicious.
Sides were baked beans and coleslaw - home made and also delicious.
Prices were mostly reasonable.

Our only less-than-positive comment is regarding the side dinner salad - it was exceptionally small (in our experience) - possibly the smallest salad we have ever had in a restaurant and therefore not quite worth the cost. The request here is that the Owners take a look, consider this feedback and, if they agree, make an improvement.

Otherwise:
The environment was simple and homey - a positive attribute..
The server was friendly, polite and helpful.
The food was good.
The BBQ was real.
We will return and suggest that our friends try it as well.

As always, the content of this entire review is just our opinion and our feelings, based upon our single experience.
Further, our experience is not necessarily representative of the experiences of others.

Visit the place and form your own opinion.

My husband and I were not hungry enough for a sit down meal --- we both felt a sub / hotdog would be great. We saw that a place down the street from where we were staying --- had subs / pizza --- so we stopped in. The place is a combination Irving Gas Station, general store and they make sandwiches, hot dogs and pizza, etc. I had a small Italian sub and my husband had two hotdogs and onion rings. The rings were good --- tasted homemade, the hotdogs were cooked and then finished on the grill! The Italian sub was great, complete with olives --- and the bread was fresh and delicious. I went back in the store for something and I mentioned how delicious the Italian sub was ---- including the bread. The man behind the counter stated that was their best seller --- and they made the bread fresh daily. There is no sitting place inside, however, they do have picnic tables with umbrellas outside. Prices were extremely reasonable! Out of the three sub places we visited during the week --- I have to say this was the TOPS!!
