I used to enjoy going in this local restaurant. The people who own and run it are friendly. But yesterday I went with two friends for lunch at 11:30. One friend ordered the "famous" chicken salad that was advertised as having grapes and pecans. The plate came out with maybe an ice cream scoop size of salad sitting on one wilted lettuce leaf. There was one grape. For that and an ice re--$11 before tip. Another friend ordered the salad on a croissant. One grape. She asked for fruit rather than chips or fries. Additional $2.75.

I had the fish tacos. The shell felt as though it had been dipped in water. Very unappealing. Sweet potato fries were good.

The desserts in the case in front are good and our water and iced tea were refilled. Otherwise, this deserved 2 stars at best.

Very disappointing! Ordered the Beef with Broccoli and Chicken with Broccoli. All that's in it is veggies! Tiny bits of beef and chicken that you can barely see! I ordered the General Tso's chicken and got honey chicken. No spicy sauce. Not worth the money and not authentic Chinese. Won't be going back!

This little gem is nothing special as far as decor but the food is good and the "salsa bar" was a nice treat. I've never seen that before. We tried three different salsas. Warm tortillas and salsa were complimentary and served promptly by a pleasant waitress that offered suggestions on favourite dishes. We enjoyed our two choices- Carnitas and Mexican fries. Carnitas here is not shredded -but cubed. I prefer mine shredded. The Mexican fries were better than poutine. The atmosphere was a little strange. Music was playing fairly loud at the same time as the two T.V's on just as loud. It was hard to hear either one as they were interfering with one another. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I wish I had room for dessert but I was just too full. And that's a good thing!

Reminds me of a typical Greek-owned restaurant in Chicago. Portions are ginormous. 3 cannoli to the order. Decent. Large generic salad included. 2 HUGE catfish filets. Frozen fish - batter separated. Large generic salad included. 2 dinners - less than $20.

I have to be truthful and say that it was not me personally that went. The wife has on two occasions visited this new doughnut shop in Sweetwater, TN. The first time she picked out a dozen doughnuts of different kinds. She said the place was very clean and the people very friendly. She also liked that the doughnuts are NOT prefilled. She bought the doughnuts and they asked her what type filling and topping she would like. Then they take the doughnuts back and fill and top them for you while you wait. She also noted that they sold bisquits, and other breakfast type sandwhiches.
She brought the doughnuts home and sadly they did not last long at all. Every one that I ate I loved!
She had to make a second trip two days later and she bought 2 dozen this time. LOL!

Highly recommended!!

Fat Hats Grill

I was listening to the old time Sweetwater rock ‘n roll station and I heard a restaurant ad for the 100th time. The young lady doing the ad spoke so softly that I could never understand what the name of the place was… So I turned up the radio and focused…and I heard that young lady say “Fat Hat’s”! Off we went for dinner… The concrete block structure looks like it may have been an old time soft serve ice cream outlet at one point. FYI…the bathrooms have outside entrances.

This is definitely a local 'down home' kind of place. Our server’s kids were doing their homework at one of the tables. Everyone was very nice. We learned that the soft spoken announcer who did those radio ads was the owner’s daughter.

There was only one other customer in the restaurant when we arrived. Despite the lack of sit down business, the stream of take-out customers was very steady while we were there.

My wife went for Fat Hat’s Super Burger, their 6 oz. best seller. She added cheese and bacon and picked a small order of the onion rings for her side dish. The burger was juicy, the bacon was plentiful and the onion rings were awesome! Even though it was a small order, she couldn’t finish them… Her meal totalled $4.50 before taxes and tip!

I decided to go for broke! When I saw a 3 piece chicken dinner on the menu, I decided that was for me...only $9.00! (Other than fast food joints, actual fried chicken that isn’t fingers or strips is a rare commodity! The chicken came with some decent coleslaw, a big slice of buttered Texas toast and I chose French fries for my main side dish. The French fries were a little mushy and needed a touch longer in the fryer. However the chicken was very tasty with a nice crunchy crust! I would order it again.
