My wife and I spent three days in Svendborg, using this very nice city as a base to tour Fyn, including visits to Valdemars Slot, Nyborg Slot, and Aeroskobing. We chose the Best Western for our hotel, separately reviewed, had a most unsatisfactory meal at their in-house restaurant (also separately reviewed) our initial night, knew we had to venture out into the neighborhood for other evening meals.
Fortunately, Under Uit ("Under the Clock") was only a block and a half away, the menu seemed appealing despite prior variable TA reviews, so we went there on our second night...and enjoyed it enough to warrant a re-visit on the third night in town.
The Waitstaff is very friendly and efficient. Fortunately despite what seems to be a relative paucity of English speaking tourists here, as compared to Copenhagen, they did have an English menu. On the first night we split an order of “URET’S” GOURMET TOAST", a very sizable serving of "Grilled Serrano ham and organic cheese on bread with mustardcream.served with a little green salad, mustard vinaigrette end parmesan" per their menu, was delicious. We both then had their fish of the season, which was a very nicely prepared salmon served over a light sauce, with a small iron pot of boiled potatoes. Their dessert of the day was a fantastic chocolate cake with ice cream, also split between us, can't imagine anyone eating the entire dessert on their own.
With no other seemingly desirable eateries in the near vicinity, and noting how much we enjoyed our initial dinner, we returned the following night and tried their three course dinner. The appetizer was called "lobster bisque", but was actually a small amount of bisque at the base of the bowl, with a square of mullet and a round spinach item on top. This was followed by nicely prepared veal with portobello mushrooms and beets, as well as a pot of boiled potatoes. The listed dessert for the three course meal was a creme brulee, but we very much wanted to have their apple pie, which in Denmark seems to be a wonderful concoction of apple slices mixed with macaroon crumble, covered by a ton of whipped cream. As we always say, we will go on a diet NEXT week. It was wonderful.
We ate outside, was a heat wave in early September but nights were cooling off a bit, so they did have blankets at each table and warming lights running.
Meals here for two with a couple of beers will reach $120, but the food was good, the service excellent, and the street scene was as good as any evening's entertainment might be.
We are so glad we were able to eat here twice, and would recommend it enthusiastically to anyone travelling through Svendborg and looking a nice spot for a great evening meal.

20 years ago, I just loved this place. Now it has turned into a boring mainstream café with no charm left. And prices has just increased, food is really expensive, properly due to lack of competition. So settle for drinks/beers since service is okay.

May be Danish people don't realize that foreigners consider Denmark as rather expensive. But in this place one can have good, honest food for a reasonable price. Specialized in burgers of all kinds. Watch for the information displayed on a TV monitor for several extra non-burger choices of the day! Relaxed atmosphere, with a good Terrace in front

The restaurant is easy to find and located by the harbor and ferry. I was greeted immediately by an incredible waitress. After looking at the menu she recommended a local favorite. She was very attentive and helpful. The food arrived hot and fresh. I don't remember what it was called but it looked like fried pork belly. If you are into pork rinds or chicronenos then this dish is for you. The peices were thick and crispy. The potatoes and berets were good. The portion size was huge, I had trouble eating the entire meal. In fact I just didn't have enough room for the creme brulee. Very nice restaurant that had a local feel.

Italian in DK? We had no expectations-- and we're delighted with our meal and the ambiance-- had a carafe of perfectly fine house wine in this very cosy restaurant-- had the beef carpaccio-- fresh and delicious-- and lovely bread and the crepe filled with meat and tomato be hazel sauce-- which we shared. Delightful. We are going back tomorrow night to try the pizzas that were flying out the door......Service was excellent.

There aren't too many restaurants in Svendborg and eating out is not a major sport for cash-strapped Danes but Krinsen is one of the best. We had a very enjoyable all-you-can-eat deal, beef, a big variety of vegetables, with good red wine, in a very pleasant setting, and it came to about £80 for two. Not outstanding but very good.

Just entering the door you got the feeling of special treatment.
We arrived just before 23.00. reception close for check in then but there is always a night portier who easily fixed 2 beers for us around midnight
Our room, superior deluxe was spacious and nice view overlooking the sea.
Just maybe the bed was a little bit too soft.
WiFi good
Breakfast - this is unique - take place by the table and then you get served. This is pure luxury
I really loved this place and it's not expensive compared with what you get
