Suncheon (Korean pronunciation: [sun.tɕʰʌn]) (Suncheon-si) is a city in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is a scenic agricultural and industrial city of around 250,000 people near Suncheon Bay. It is located in the southeastern corner of Jeollanam-do, just over an hour south-east of Gwangju. Forty minutes south of Suncheon is the port city of Yeosu, and twenty minutes to the east of Suncheon is Gwangyang. It is currently experiencing strong development due to being included as part of the Gwangyang Bay Free Economic Zone, one of three newly created Free Economic Zones (FEZs) in South Korea due to open within the next decade. As of October 14, 2007 plans are being set up and a referendum is being planned for a merging of the cities of Yeosu, Suncheon and Gwangyang into a new metropolitan city, taking advantage of the Gwangyang Bay Free Economic Zone, Yeosu's Expo 2012 bid and port facilities, Suncheon's educational institutes and Gwangyang's POSCO plant.

When my friends invited me for Christmas, I was thrilled. . . until I learned we were going to a "steak house". But my fears were for nought! VIPS has a great extended salad bar with numerous vegetarian and creative international options! There's also basic cold salad fixings, pizza (not great pizza, but. . .). Overall, the service was good (even though mostly self-serve) and we lingered a couple hours heading back to the buffet!

저녁 시간이라 거의 모든 자리가 차 있었어도 주문 하고 그다지 많이 기다린 것 같지는 않고
이어 나오는 음식들이 이것 저것 많아서 첫번째 놀랬고, 모든 음식이 맛이 나쁘지 않아 만족스러웠습니다.
특히 보리밥에 이것 저것 야채를 넣고 비벼 먹고 또 함께 나왔던 삶은 돼지고기를 김치에 싸먹고 하다보니 모두들 너무 과식을 하게되어 나중에 후회했다는 후문이...ㅎㅎ^^
예전에는 가격도 더 싸고 서비스도 좋았다고 하는데
서울에서 방문한 가족 소감으로는 아주 만족스러웠다는 점.

I was a consistent customer at the one near Shinnonhyun Station next to Avenue Rose Italian restaurant. I went there 3-4 times a week. Yesterday, I had two drinks left on my DropTop card to get a free cup of coffee. The girl told me that my coupon expired. Fair enough. However, being that I was a consistent customer, you would think you would let that slide and let me fill up my coupon if you had good customer service skills. I won't boycott this place, but it will not be my first choice any more.

This place only has one item on the menu - nakji jungol - a type of very spicy octopus soup. If you are squeamish about seafood and are not into spicy food, this is not your place. But if you are willing to get "real local" and try the dish that represents this area, then there appears to be no better restaurant. There are no tables and you have to sit on the floor. You just tell the staff how many portions you want and the casserole comes out in short time ready to get boiled at your table. The soup does not look spicy at first - that's because the chili paste is hidden below the veggies and octopus. Once the soup starts boiling, the chili paste starts spreading and the whole dish turns a fiery, hot, boiling, roiling red. Once the soup is decently heated, you ladle spoonfuls over your rice bowl which are larger than other places precisely to accommodate the soup. You can also add bits of dried seawood to season your dish. And then there is nothing left but to devour the rice, the incredibly complex and spicy soup, and the veggies. The octopus is unquestioningly fresh and, even though I am not a great fan of seafood in general, I was happy I had this dish, and I felt I had the essence of this beautiful place in a bowl.

순천은 꼬막정식이 유명하죠..그중 풍미정이 맛있다고 지인에게 들어 방문했습니다.
식당규모는 큰편입니다. 단체 손님들도 많이 있구요. 가게가 커서 바뻐보이시지만 기본적으로 친절하게 서비스해주십니다. 반찬도 더 달라고 하면 주시구요.
주 메뉴는 꼬막정식입니다. 13000원이라는 저렴한 가격에 삶은 꼬막, 꼬막전, 꼬막무침, 양념 얹은 꼬막, 꼬막이 들어간 된장찌개와 밥이 나옵니다. 꼬막이 너무 싱싱하고 알차서 씹을수록 맛있고 고소했어요. 그리고 남도 음식답게 반찬도 다양하고 참 맛있습니다. 만족할만한 식당이었어요~방문해보시길!

동천주변에 있는 본점에 들렀는데 규모가 꽤 크더라구요. 직원들의 얼굴에서는 자부심이 느
껴졌었고. 인테리어도 굉장히 신경쓴게 티가 납니다. 커피 맛과 가격도 훌륭했습니다.

추석 연휴 직전에 방문해서일까
예약 손님만 받으시는 상태였다.
타지에서 다른 정보없이 방문한 우리는 빵을 구경조차 할 수 없었다.
예약된 것만 만들어두시고 손님들이 와서 찾아가는 방식으로 되어있었다.
빵 하나 놓여있지않은 빵집이라니 ㅜ이곳에 와보기위해 일부러 중앙시장까지 차를 타고 왔던 터라 더 속상했다.

전라도에서 처음 먹어본 국밥.
만일 당신이 경상도 사람이라면 국밥 집에서 주문할 수 있는 섞어국밥 혹은 내장국밥이 여기 건봉국밥의 일반 국밥이라고 생각하면 된다. 가격은 6~7000원으로 싼편은 아니다.
아랫장이라는 순천 터미널 인근 시장의 초입에 있다. 따로 주차시설은 없으나 시장 도로에 주차하고 들어가서 먹기에 무리는 없다. 붐비는 편이지만 친절한 전라도 사투리의 서비스를 만날 수 있다.
국밥은 각종 내장, 비계, 조금의 수육 등이 국물에 잘 우러나 있다. 느끼한 맛 보다 바다의 짠맛이 나는 것이 신기하다. 로컬맛집으로 유명하고 맛있게 먹을 수 있지만 특별히 다른 국밥집과 차별화된 붸분을 찾기는 어렵다. 든든한 한끼와 편한 접근성이 좋다면 들러도 괜찮을 것 같다.
