Sestri Levante (Latin: Segesta Tigullorum/Segesta Tigulliorum) is a town and comune in Liguria, Italy. Lying on the Mediterranean Sea, it is approximately 56 kilometres (35 mi) south of Genoa and is set on a promontory. While nearby Portofino and the Cinque Terre are probably the best-known tourist destinations on the Italian Riviera, Sestri Levante is becoming quite a favorite among Italians. This once quiet fishing village is slowly turning into a tourist hotspot, developing an old and a new town.

This time one of those time when we did not really get why all those rave reviews about this place. Service was very unenthusiastic and frosty. We must say that they indeed gave us table with nice view, right in front of the water. This was the only positive thing about the place.
We didn't want to take any starters on the menu so ordered fresh mixed salad (tomato, lettuce, carrots). You can really tell how "Italian" the place is by the quality of the olive oil they serve. So when we added some to the salad, we realised the food is not going to Wow us. Catch of the day (white fish) was average, nothing special. Overall the food was too salty on our opinion. Paid 73 Euro for two salads and two fish. Bottle of water, no alcohol. Basically you are paying for the view and not for the food, keep that in mind.
As a side note, we should have scrolled further down to see negative review of a gentleman from New York. You can really tell a lot about professionalism of the restaurant by the way management replies to the negative comments. Restaurant's reply is just rude.
Would not recommended.

Half way between Portofino and Cinque Terre it's worth to stop by in Sestri Levante and go for lunch or dinner at Ristorante Ai Castelli surrounded by a private green park. The Panorama on baia del silenzio it's amazing, the restaurant staff excellent and the food simply awesome. It's a pleasure to taste the plate of raw fish and shellfish combined to seasonal fruit or any plate they recommend. It's hard to choose. The wish is to try all menu. The wine list, more then 300 labels, it's extraordinary. A place not to miss.

Really eclectic place - slightly odd American influences in the decor, but the food is absolutely excellent. The prawn gazpacho is outrageously good. Word of warning, they serve "pizza" but these are essentially very highly proofed focaccia, which may not be to everyone's taste - particularly if you're after very thin Roman style pizza. Excellent place and highly recommended.

I was excited to try Balin Cuisine, having read many great reviews. After many seafood meals, we decided to try some of the meat dishes, having seen that their steak was highly recommended. My wife ordered the filet mignon medium and I ordered a ribeye medium rare. Neither were executed well--mine came out medium and her's was extremely rare. A starter of fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms was good, but not as good as others we had tried elsewhere. Service was both attentive and professional. Don't know if it was an off night or because we didn't go with seafood but this was one of our least favorite meals in SL (and probably the most expensive).

Dining at the Cantine Cattaneo had been a really memorable experience. We had several antipasti, first and second courses to share and lovely desserts to end the meal. The interior is cosy and beautifully decorated with wood & bricks. Service was fast and accommodating. The food is absolutely delicious as the freshest ingredients were used. Compliments to the chef ! The grilled octopus was the favourite, it was so fresh and perfect. The mushrooms was good too. The fish stuffed ravioli in prawn sauce was delicious. For the amount we ate and the quality of the ingredients used, I think this meal is worth every cent. It definitely showcases the Ligurian cuisine at its best.

It is a good sign already, that most assessments are in Italian.
We came as tourists and were greeted friendly, no complaints about ordering only one plate per person and drinking no wine.
Congratulations to the cuisine, we loved everything we tasted and can especially recommend the desserts (see the picture of my meringue pie and the apple pie was even better).

You can have a good pizza, a good risotto, a good starter, a good dessert, a good coffee for a reasonable price.
All what you will get will come with a smile, which is always welcome.
It even looks that the Gardenie's clients are also used to smile, which is always nice.
They find a solution for you even if you did not reserve a table, and they like kids and are patient with them.
Last but not least, a very good and rich wine & beers selection.

We found that restaurant via Tripadvisor because it is on the northern side of the railway track, exactly opposite the railway station.
As first we weren't aware that it is possible to use the railway under path (at railway station) to cross the track, but then we went there.
What we got was excellent service, excellent Italian food at reasonable prices.
Very good, we will come back again

We had a wonderful evening with our group of nine in this family restaurant. Lovely starters, nice English explanation by the daughter. Best quality of turbot we could find in Liguria and delicious pasta (pansoti). Lovely wine (award winning Vermentino). The chef even took a special foto of our group and gave an interesting explanation of how to make Limoncino.

House specialties: Fresh Pasta, normal and filled as well as a large amount of sauces, such as pesto, walnut sauce, meat sauce, shrimp sauce, the classic tomato sauce and many others. All product strictly inside the store with an activity that starts at 7 am and goes on to the bitter end and exhaustion. The store opens to the public from 8 am to 19:30.

They make all sorts of Pasta right in the shop. You can see what they make thru the glass wall, and buy what you need asking for suggestions, recipes. They also have wonderful sauces to go with.
Open on Sunday mornings, beware of rush hours as you could wait a long time. better to drop in early in the morning, order, pay and pickup just before lunch/dinner time
