Miss Lucy's Kitchen

Extended family rendezvoused for dinner at a central location recently. Food was very good; both the scallops and ribs were enjoyed. Service was friendly, helpful, and excellent. Desserts were really good; the hardest part was making a choice between some very appealing options. The menu here reportedly changes with availability of local products, so it is worthwhile to look online at the current menu before you come. Dinner for two with a couple of drinks, desserts and a tip ran about $140 but all felt it was a worthwile visit. .

Hudson Valley Dessert Company

I came here to get some dessert to bring back to my hotel room. The selection was overwhelming with many creative choices. I was pleasantly surprised to find half moon cookies that were baked/frosted like I am used to from the Syracuse-Utica NY area (more like mini cakes). There were all these unique cookies in some cute shapes that children and adults would like.

They had some savory choices, like quiche and cheese croissants that looked outstanding. A "local" told me their soup is outstanding.

I ordered their peanut butter frappe. I'm NOT a coffee drinker but still enjoyed this beverage. What I really liked was that you could sit down and play board games while enjoying your drinks.

The counter staff was friendly.

They even had a few baked goods.

I'd heard great things about The Red Onion. I enjoyed the veggie curry with shrimp. The thai beef salad appetizer was nice. Our server was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is in an old farmhouse that was quite cold. I had to wear my winter jacket throughout the meal. Personally, I much prefer the vibe and atmosphere of The Bear Cafe.

We wandered into Slices while exploring Saugerties. It's small place in an old building at the center of town. Excellent pizza. Good service. Hard to beat a place like this. I enjoyed their sauce and the pizza wasn't so heavy with cheese that the sauce got lost. Good spot for lunch or dinner. I would return.

The food was excellent. The waits were not. Came got dinner on a Saturday night. The dining room was about half full. Tons of staff standing around but it still took about ten minutes to get a menu and a solid 45 minutes between ordering and when appetizers arrived. The food was very good with nice portions, enough without being too much. Not sure if it was an off night for the staff, but based on the food, we will be back.

Service was excellent, very attentive. Nice menu. Four of us out on a Friday night. Beer, martini, and wine for starters. WE shared dinner tacos, mini ones, and Califlower wings, which were delicious. The guys had the catfish dinner with fries, huge and they both enjoyed it. I had the French dip, messy, juicy and delicious! Friend had the Harvest chicken dinner and enjoyed very bite. The restaurant was small, but the staff was friendly and fun.

Dutch Ale House

Stopped in for lunch and our group had the Saratoga IPA as well as twice cooked chicken wings, a burger, and the grilled Turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce (Thanksgiving in July!). The food and drinks were surprisingly good and the service was fine. It's a dark bar with two separate rooms; the main room when you first walk in is very dark and the few booths (maybe 5?) are pretty small. The next room over has absolutely NO ambiance whatsoever. It looked like a large bare room with a few long tables and chairs set around the perimeter. It was actually weird how it seemed to be completely lacking in any decoration or atmosphere. Would I go there again - yeah, I guess I could. There wasn't anything wrong with it. But I would probably try other places in Saugerties first to find someplace with a nicer atmosphere.

Price wise, our 16 oz IPAs were $6 (ok price) and most of the items on the menu seemed to be in the $11-18 range.
