Top 10 restaurants in San Ysidro, United States

April 14, 2018 Terina Blouin

San Ysidro (Spanish pronunciation: [san iˈsiðɾo]) is a district of the City of San Diego, immediately north of the U.S.-Mexico border. It neighbors Otay Mesa West to the north, Otay Mesa to the east, and Nestor and the Tijuana River Valley to the west; together these communities form South San Diego, a pene-exclave of the City of San Diego, thus making it possible to travel (by water) between central San Diego and South San Diego without ever leaving the city limits. Major thoroughfares include Beyer Boulevard and San Ysidro Boulevard.

Starbucks

Reviewed By DonMiguelLasVegas - Guadalajara, Mexico

This may be the busiest Starbucks I've visited anywhere in the world, especially during weekends. The place is relatively large for a Starbucks location, with several tables and chairs inside and a few tables on the spacious sidewalk. But the order line with 20-25 people snakes outside the door much of the time on weekends, and the line for the two restrooms is 10-12 people long. Is it worth the wait? Well, if you're hooked on the consistent quality of SBUX, yes, I suppose so....

Churros El Tigre

Reviewed By Momplayinghookie - Chula Vista, California

This little business kiosk is at Las America's outlet mall near the food court in San Ysidro.
Came here with my son as we had bought a Groupon discount coupon. We got the Churros that looks like a banana split. Big enough (huge) for us to share. OMG!!! It was soooo good. I don't know what the secret ingredient in their fried, sliced bananas is, but we loved it!
Think we will go in diabetic shock but it was mouth watering delicious. Can't wait to go back for more!
They also offered Natural shaved ice (kinda like a slurpee) but with fresh fruit- that was just okay, but still refreshing.

Achiote Restaurant

Reviewed By Phillip W

The Guacamole was good. I thought flautas were made with flour tortillas, these were corn. I chose the carnitas flautas thinking softer flour tortillas than corn. The meat was like dog food, not chucks of pork. Any why cover all the dishes with mounds of lettuce? Put it on the side and let us combine it if we want. This was a very AMERICANIZED Mexican food experience.

Ghirardelli located literally at the USA Mexico border. Yes it really is a Ghirardelli for all you SF Ghirardelli fans. Chocolate, ice cream, etc etc. Take a look at the numbered border fence ( really a wall Mr. Trump....) just outside in the parking lot.

Jack in the Box

Reviewed By Chipperhigh2 - Okemos, Michigan

This Jack In the Box is located at the San Ysidro/Tijuana border on the U.S. side. After being in TJ for most of the day and having endured the line through U.S. Customs to return to U.S. I enjoyed a cold drink and burger before taking the line rail train to San Diego. Food was good and service was good.

This IHOP right at the border serves the normal menu of IHOP, the staff is bilingual but the service tends to be a little bit slow, it´s located inside the Americas Plaza so you can grab a bite before or after shopping there

Los Carbones Taco Shop

Food was amazing! Baja Fiesta sampler is highly recommended to try different food items they offer, you can ask for half-size for smaller portion. The fish tacos were the reason we tried this place, and we left fully satisfied. The beans and rice were great combination to contrast the crunchy tacos or chimichangas. They had various salsa and fresh chili on display buffet style, and the habanero salsa was my favorite.

Taqueria Revolucion

Reviewed By Winsio - Vancouver, Canada

Found this restaurant through Yelp and its a good cheap Mexican food place. If you're heading to Las Americas Outlet, its on the other side of the I5 and definitely worth the stop. The cashier picked out 6 items for us to try and it was amazing. She even gave us some soup and tea and a rice drink to sample.
