Hacienda El Jibarito

Reviewed By Lucy784 - Puerto Rico

Was totally impressed, you transport yourself in time. The food is excellent, the service amazing; the facilities and location outstanding. You can have your breakfast and lunch, enjoying a spectacular mountain view. I had the best cappuccino ever. The Sangria is so good. The rooms have a private balcony with a nature view to relax. They have private hiking trials that take you to different Waterfalls, excellent experience and exercise. The servers are all so attentive. You can do horseback riding around the Hacienda, Cristian the gentleman that helped us with the horses, was so humble and kind. This is an experience to go for and repeat.

This is one of my family's most favorite traditional Puertorican restaurants of the island. The arroz con gandules is made with gandules grown in the restaurant premises. The goat stew and the pork ribs are special as well. Cuca is the owner and her team make you feel like home.

We visited on a Saturday at lunch time as part of a large party of 12+. The staff was very attentive, explained the menu options, offered suggestions when asked, and brought and removed plates efficiently. I found the service slightly slow by American standards (maybe because I was extra hungry :), but quick for the island. Most of us ordered the breakfast sampler, pancakes, French toast (some ordered fresh fruit and peanut butter on theirs), eggs, sausage, bacon, small toast bites, and breakfast potatoes. It was a lot of tasty food! I ordered a smaller breakfast platter that had scrambled eggs, bacon, 3 sausages, breakfast potatoes, and toast for $7. It was all delicious as well. I tried a sip of a passion fruit mojito, very fresh with seeds and pieces of fruit, truly a treat! The reasons for four stars instead of five? The restroom is shared with the pharmacy across the hall where you must get a key to enter. It's not a big deal, just a little inconvenience. I will definitely crave this dining experience after I leave the island!
