Acqua E Farina

Reviewed By BarryandJackie - Berkeley, California

Generally just good old Italian food, without any attempt to be particularly splashy or uber-gourmet. The salads were generous, and we enjoyed both a pesto and marinara sauce pastas which were tasty with lots of chicken and shrimp respectively. The service was very attentive and friendly. The prices quite reasonable. The place is bigger than it looks from the street, with a wing at the back with Italian-scene frescoes. Street parking in the evening is fairly plentiful.

Paradiso Restaurant

Reviewed By ToniLuvsScuba - San Francisco, California

I came here with coworkers for brunch. It was highly recommended by one of my coworkers and this restaurant did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in because the place is nice, big, welcoming and very open looking with it's high ceiling. The place is packed with people. Very popular! I was hungry and couldn't make up my mind with so many choices. I settled for their Grand Marnier French Toast. It was one of the best french toasts I have ever had. I will definitely come back.
We were able to bring a few bottles of champagne and they charged us corkage fee which is fine. The service was great.
Parking can be challenging. There is a small parking lot at the back of the restaurant and the rest is street parking.

Luccas is an awesome, classic Itian deli with simple, quality foods. They have fresh slices meats, cheeses and other deli items. They also have small grocery items that include pastas, oils, candies, crackers, etc. They've become my favorite sandwhich spot in Hayward/Castro Valley

R&D is my aunt & uncle's Lunch Spot of choice, and I have no complaints about joining them. The menu is extensive and the food excellent. Service is prompt and, being with regulars, actually familiar.

Unless you are super hungry, order a small rather than a large, portions are generous.

Grew up with Val's. Now live out of state, always go to Val's when I return for a visit. It is always great. The two of us can make a great meal of 2 Baby Burgers and split a shake and order of fries or onion rings. The shakes are served in the old fashioned metal containers and will fill up 2+ milk shake glasses.

Flavor of India

Reviewed By calinurse - Oakland, CA

My daughter has brought home numerous takeaway dinners from here, all of which I helped her eat (-:
Last week, at last, i went in person at lunchtime. What a find! The lunch buffet variety isn't huge, but is perfectly adequate, and more important, everything is delicious! There's also a regular a la carte menu, and my friend had the chicken korma, which she loved. We've both been many times to India, and being here was evocative of our trips, especially to the Punjab.
The owner and family are lovely, friendly, helpful. There's Bollywood TV on the wall. The place is clean and comfortable. The only downside, is being here makes me miss India!! If you're in the Eat Bay and enjoy Indian food..try it!

Horatio's

Reviewed By MomDadplus2 - Yuba City, California

We happened to be down the street and I have wanted to try this place so we stopped by. It's a nice restaurant located on the Marina with a view of the boats. We had to wait for our table for about 5 minutes which is ok, but we're we're there for Sunday Brunch and the restaurant was not busy at all. The Hostess seem to be confused that day.
We were seated along the window. Service was good, the Bread and Garlic Butter they place on the table was to die for. The Ladies had French Dip and Fish n Chips and I had The American Breakfast. I enjoyed mine, our daughter enjoyed her Fish n Chips and my wife's French Dip was so so. My wife dated tonight she was impressed enough to go back and try dinner.
