The Italian restaurant Bella Sardegna profiles itself as a real Italian restaurant on their web site; the restaurant exists since 1981. Sitting in the restaurant you observe the open kitchen; Italian is spoken by the staff. Why is it that in the Netherlands the "Italian" in the Italian restaurants is on the surface only; Bella Sardegna is no exception. The fact that Italian speaking staff is present in the kitchen makes the disappointment for customers who are familiar with Italian culture even more profound. To summarize: No table cloth on the table, not even place mats. Standard the pizzas in Bella Sardegna are made with Edam cheese. When you penetrate this secret and ask for mozzarella, you are charged an additional 2 Euros for the privilege, which in Italy is basic pizza preparation. Furthermore, salami is routinely substituted by an inferior Dutch variety, called "cervelaat". The "Saltimbocca Romana" I ordered was a very casual interpretation of the original recipe. Yes, there was meat in the dish, and ham and somewhere sage, but I am sorry, but it was nowhere near what I have enjoyed in Italy. For dessert, the ice cream seemed a bit off and the panna cotta was no show stopper. Where I have to compliment the restaurant was with the excellent service. As value for money, that is always a problem in the Netherlands even if you can look back on a satisfactory meal, so I can't recommend Bella Sardegna on that point either.

During my business trip I stayed on night in Fletcher hotel. I checked in at 5pm and decided to walk to the centre of Roden to find some restaurant with local food, but everything was closed except pizzeria. So I went back to hotel and had my dinner at hotel restaurant. It was right choice. Food wasn't authentic local, but it was very delicious. Service was incredibly good - professionally helpful and friendly. Based on waiter recommendation, I started with local beer waiting for my mushroom entrée and continued with glass of wine with beef steak, which was unbelievably tender and exceptionally delicious. desert with local berries was delicious too. Next morning I had breakfast in the same restaurant and it was also impressive.

We visited the restaurant during a cycling trip. We stopped at the Terrace for a lunch. The view is limited, it is located at an average road. That was not the problem. We were very disappointing about a club Sandwich. The bread was very dry. The salad came out of a jar and was washed on the plate and quite tasteless. We finished the small Sandwich in just a few minutes and were still hungry...The sandwiches were just to expense for the product offered.

Goed restaurant in het centrum van Roden. Erg goed gegeten en ook de bediening was goed. Enige nadeel is dat de andere gasten hun kinderen niet in bedwang kon houden en dat ze dus constant aan het heen en weer rennen waren wat niet echt rustig eten was.

When in the northeast of Holland, Drenthe, Friesland or Groningen, don't miss it. Last summer we had a very good dinner there and easter this year we enjoyed a very good lunch. Nice and good staff, very good cooking and lovely te be, in- or outside wheather permitting.

Restaurant Brink 15 in Roden offers sandwiches, bagels, ice cream, pan cakes, and between 16.00-19.00 a selection of plate service for dinner. (Yes, if I had to mention a negative point, this is the early closing time). I mentioned it in an earlier review that we have identified Restaurant Brink 15 in Roden as one of the rare restaurants in the Netherlands, where you can get freshly made, tasty food in a casual atmosphere for a reasonable price. One of our fixed stops when in the North-East part of the Netherlands.

onverwachte topper in Roden, we hadden eerst gemikt op Mensinge, maar daar viel de huiswijn (op het terras) en de vriendelijkheid van de bediening tegen. De brasserie het Theater maakte een goede indruk en het menu met twee mooie gerechten; een smakelijke en best geraffineerde vispalet en een prachtig stuk superverse kabeljauw als hoofdgerecht waren echt top. De bediening was erg vriendelijk en attent, zowel de witte als de rode de huiswijn waren beduidend beter dan in Mensinge. Ook de eindafrekening was een aangenaam slot van echt een heerlijk diner

Merry Gold is a very comfortable restaurant. I often come here by myself and always feel welcome. Service is excellent and they know my taste for dim sum, so they help me pick out the best pieces. Sometimes there is even something extra-special! Their food is of an overall good quality and it is a pleasure for me, and for us, to come back time and again.

De laatste dag van onze vakantie in Roden in Drenthe. Uitstekend gegeten. Als we weer eens hier zijn komen we beslist terug.

We had the Cantonese menu for 4 persons, it was a total surprise. We were delighted by the taste and the way it was served. Different from most Chinese menus in the Netherlands. We will come back.....
