There's a variety of water sports in Redding, from whitewater rafting on the Sacramento River to waterskiing, swimming, fishing and sailing on Shasta Lake, one of four magnificent manmade lakes in this northeastern California town. When you're ready to dry off, there are also plenty of land-based activities, like camping or hiking in the national forests and parks, following walking trails through the 220-acre arboretum or spending time exploring two fascinating parks: Shasta State Historic Park and Turtle Bay Exploration Park. At Shasta State, you'll find the ghost town of Shasta City from the Gold Rush days, complete with restored stagecoach, barn and courthouse, with eerie reminders of where prisoners were kept and sometimes hanged. The ever-expanding 300-acre Turtle Bay Park houses the recently opened Turtle Bay Museum, with extraordinary hands-on exhibits focusing on the environment and an outstanding collection of American Indian baskets. The kids will love the park's Paul Bunyan's Forest Camp, which includes a playground, logging and ecology exhibits and the popular summer butterfly house, where the fragile winged creatures flit about and alight on welcoming visitors.

At In-N-Out Burger, quality is everything. Stop by to enjoy our menu of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, french fries and shakes. In-N-Out makes fast food the old fashioned way.
Best burger and fries! everything is fresh when you roll up in the drive-thru you can often watch them using the french fry pounder on fresh potatoes. We don't have them in Montana which is sad because I miss their cheeseburgers, fries, and milkshakes! when we visit family in California we always eat there as much as possible before we leave. They are always clean facilities and great employees. In-N-Out really outdoes itself and makes happy customers. I have had friends who worked there and they say its great place to work.

Attentive and happy servers and a breakfast of grand proportions. Us Brits are just not used to the American sized servings! My omelette was filled to overflowing plus large hash browns AND options of pancake or toast.... so much! But, I ate it all - too good to waste!

We have gone several times for tacos. 4 for $10. Watch out for the salsa, is HOT. Beer selection is outstanding. Burger is also good.

Arrived Black Friday at 2:30 for a late lunch. Restaurant was surprisingly busy but we were seated immediately by a very nice hostess. All the employees were outstanding. Decor is gorgeous. Seats are something special. Before ordering our items, my son ordered a kid's meal for our 21 month old granddaughter. Her food arrived amazingly quick - a very good thing given the patience level of a child that age. My daughter-in-law took a while to peruse the menu. I was very impressed with how our waiter kept a watchful eye from a distance, arriving just as she made her decision. The 4 adult orders arrived promptly. In the interim, chips were replaced before you had to resort to the little broken pieces; salsa was quickly replenished. Service was superb. But not the food. My taco salads' ground beef was bland. I used 1.5 bowls of salsa to liven it up. My wife considered her avocado tostado's shredded beef to be spicy. As usual, I finished her meal. It was not spicy enough for me. My daughter-in-law, a Texas girl used to Tex Mex found her shredded chimichanga to be very bland. My son's carne asada chimichanga was great. We concluded that further exploration of the menu was necessary to identify items that fit our individual tastes. And that we will do when next RV'ing in the area!

The servers were all dressed in lumberjack clothing and were happy, helpful, friendly and courteous. The service was very prompt. The food was heaping portions and very tasty. We could have easily shared one dish between the two of us. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone - great place.

We were looking for a good steak and saw this old-time restaurant. There was a little bit of a wait when we got there but only because we wanted a booth. The bartender was friendly. Our server was one of the best! Our meals were fantastic and if we're ever in Redding, we'll definitely stop by again!

I had the prime rib french dip special. Good ad expected from a Black Bear but not a very large portion I thought. First time at this one but will usually seek one out visiting a town that has one on when travelling. Always worth a visit.

Est. in 1982 by Nello Melie, Nello's Place has become a landmark between Seattle and San Diego, known for it's unique atmosphere, exquisite service, and truly amazing dishes. Reservations can be made by phone or by visiting our website.
I’m an out of towner here on business. My hotel said give Nello’s a try. What a great suggestion. The atmosphere is amazing. Small place. Absolutely packed. All locals. Christmas music playing, Italian Christmas music, Sinatra. Families talking away and laughing. Slightly dark in here, candles at each table. The place has a buzz. Weird but it makes me happy. Oh and the food is amazing! Antipasto comes with your meal. Delicious. Soup, minestrone to die for. Chicken parm was out of this world. And two mini cannolis for dessert were delightful!

C.R Gibbs is located in the heart of Redding and is an open exhibition kitchen with a full bar, banquet facilities and American Grille Style Cuisine.
Service was good and waitress acknowledged our present quickly.
It was our 40th anniversary dinner and we wanted to try CR Gibbs again
after not going there for many years.
Service good, food was good but overpriced for what was served.
Menu had nothing adventurous or exciting to order. BUT what was served tasted good.
