This is higher end dining right on georgian bay. We didn't expect to find a fancy restaurant in the area, but this one is quite fancy. It has a high end restaurant dinner menu. The food was very tasty, but the portions were rather small even though the price was rather high. Nice views of the marina.

Small restaurant part of Big Chute Marina complex. Nothing fancy. Indoor and outdoor Seating available. Stopped for lunch as it was convenient after seeing the "marine railroad" nearby. Four of us - 2 ordered burgers, two ordered hot dogs. Both were pretty good. Servings are ample.

This is a family owned, operated restaurant. Definitely not nouvelle cuisine ... just old fashioned place, with table cloths and candles, meat and potatoes entrees, but well prepared and served by friendly wait staff. We have never had a bad meal here.
Not much of a wine selection

I made a dinner reservation well in advance of Thanksgiving for a group of friends and myself for thanksgiving dinner. What a disappointment. We were told that our table was only allowed 5 Turkey dinners! We went there for Turkey dinner as friends who were there last year raved about it. I ended up having sole, and it was terrible. Dry, no taste, gob of egg on the bottom, mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy and the veg was a mix of squash and turnip that was mashed ... most of us did not like it. I went back a second time with 2 friends and again I was very disappointed in my food and I will not be going back again.

If arriving by foot, we are on the east side of King between Yonge and Elizabeth. If driving, approach from Midland Ave. between Yonge and Elizabeth, free three hour parking in municipal lot.
My 2 out of 5 rating would be for the food (which is why we went there in the first place, right?). Service, ambience, wine selection and price points, however, would deserve top marks based on our one and only visit there.
So, about that food: I ordered chicken satay and my wife the mussels for apps. My satay was quite good. The mussels, however, were anemic shrivelled up little things and certainly not the plump delicious creatures we experienced in PEI just a few weeks ago. The curry sauce was way too aggressive for such delicate little things and the baguette was very weird in that it had the look and feel of freezer burnt bread but from the inside out.
As mains, I wanted the Sea Bass only to be told they had none due to a “menu change”. OK. Fair enough. Take it off the menu, then. I settled for the stuffed pork tenderloin with brie, bacon, onions. My wife went for the seafood linguine..
The linguine had shrimp (good), scallops (lousy, rubbery little pucks) and more of them low grade mussels. The dill cream sauce was just not pleasant (there are so many ways to prep seafood pasta...dill should not be a 1st choice, IMO).
My pork tenderloin was not the preferred centre part. Rather, I got both ends (lucky me). That is, the stuffed “big end” and that flat other end that cannot be stuffed. Both were quite over done and very dry. The stuffed end, where stuffing will naturally try to ooze out, had minimal Brie, a few onions and no hint of bacon. The mashed spuds looked promising but were way under seasoned. The veg were totally forgettable. Not a well executed dish by any means.
So there you have our 1st experience at Explorers restaurant. We were expecting far better than what we got But would give the place another try if/when we are back this way (it is an interesting looking place after all.)

We continue to enjoy the food and the atmosphere at the Mill Bistro. We are always made to feel welcomed and like we have come to eat with "friends". Our family enjoys a number of dishes from the menu and always looks forward to trying one of the specials. There is great care taken to ensure our dining experience meets or exceeds our expectations.

The Grill will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Oct 9 2017 until the new year! Stay tuned for an re-open date!

Excellent freshly prepared meals served in a warm, friendly setting with outstanding waterfront views. Also enjoy a large over-water and boat-up patio open May-Oct with tropical drinks, great service and a Caribbean vibe. The Grill is open year-round and is also a terrific fall and winter destination with large hearty meals and front row seats for the parade of migrating wildlife stopping off for a rest in the open water visible out every window in the Grill.
We were enjoying our meal and drinks.
Pizza acceptable as was the peanut chicken.
We had had a glass of wine each and decided to try the Margaritas, they were delicious, best we had had for a while.
We ordered another Margarita each but were refused as we had had 3 units each already!!
We could not believe it, the story goes 7 years ago there was an issue on the lake with drunk teenagers.
Who served them alcohol?
(There is a bottle shop nearby as well as licensed premises.)
Since then, that is the rule of The Grill,we are in our 50's
Just enjoying a meal together.
The Grill does not advertise this rule anywhere,in fact the first page of their menu is all about alcoholic beverages how ironic!!
We were disgusted and dismayed at this treatment!!
My advice do not bother visiting.
It is a disgrace.

A hip little cafe with a passionate coffee roaster, artisan bakers and real baristas.
Stopped in for a flat white yesterday. This is a smallish indie coffee shop with a roaster in the back, just what I look for. I enjoyed my freshly roasted flat white. There are interesting cookies for sale and a selection of. Smoothies and other drinks as well. Full of character with a lovely gold pressed steel ceiling. Bought some beans to take home.
