Harry's Cafe

Reviewed By PDLJ - Brooklyn, New York

The food at Harry's was always topnotch, with an eclectic menu with a wide selection of Asian and continental choices. Now it has the space to match. The old location was too small. It was charming, where the new space is large and modern - but it makes for a much more comfortable dining experience. A great improvement! (And much more convenient to Okemo, too.)

Long Trail Brewing Company

Located on the banks of the Ottauquechee River, our brewery and brew pub offers a seasonally rotating menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients and beer fresh from the source. On tap we have more than a dozen beers including our year-round staples, seasonal selections and limited releases. Look for super-limited, small batch brews from our Farmhouse Ales series brewed in our farmhouse-turned-pilot-brewing facility and exclusively available in our pub & restaurant. When the weather warms up, grab a seat at our riverside deck or dip your toes in the water and go with the flow.

We were traveling between Killington and Gorham, NH after a long day of PSIA testing on the slopes and were SUPER excited to have dinner here. I spent the morning doing some research on Trip Advisor and the brewery's website, both of which indicated they were open from 10-7 daily. As we drove in (at 5:55) we saw the open sign hanging and the sign as you drive into the parking lot also lists the hours from 10-7 daily.

We walked in and the woman at the register said, "Sorry ladies, we're closed." I looked at my watch and it said 5:57, that's when she informed us that they now close at 6:00. I said, well it's not quite 6 and asked if there was any way we could get dinner. She restated they close at 6 (it wasn't 6 and the place was still packed). She did a few other things then walked into the kitchen to see if they had shut down which they had.

She came back, not the least bit concerned and repeated that they were closed. I suggested that they update their website and sign out front to which she snakily replied that they had. I beg to differ. They closed their kitchen down prior to 6 and that's their prerogative but I won't ever try to go back.

The Wilder House

Reviewed By WearyTraveler2005 - Boston, Massachusetts

This charming little venue is in the Coolidge historical site, and is like stopping by the family farm for breakfast. The staff was very friendly, and seem to love interacting with customers. The menu is a bit limited, but that is because it is not a very big place and the staff is quite small. Breakfasts consist mainly of eggs, bagels and breakfast meats, all of which were delicious. We had the place to ourselves on a Tuesday morning and looking out over the mountains and the Coolidge farm from the quiet, historic dining room was like being in a travel guide. Despite the charm, the Wilder is kid friendly, and our server brought our kids' hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream in kid character mugs. A bus tour arrived as we were finishing up, but even that did not seem to really change the atmosphere. If you are in Plymouth, I recommend visiting the Wilder.

Laura is an amazing baker! As a caterer, I appreciate what she's got going on here. We catered in bagels, muffins, scones, and croissants all of which were fresh & very tasty. We ordered over a dozen variety of sandwiches- UNBELIEVABLY fresh, flavorful and big! A fruit, vegetable & local cheese tray that was devoured, along with gorgeous miniature fruit tarts and custom designed cupcakes to suit our family celebration. The locals know where to go and this is the place. It's not intended for sitting inside so be prepared to take home or enjoy outside the bakery on a good weather day. It's the red chalet conveniently located right on Killington Rd. Can't say enough good things about this place. GO!!!!

Our restaurant was voted 10 Best Restaurants of 2016 by Forbes Magazine including Asia and Europe. Our Chef is a European Michelin Star trained chef. Our dining experience is one seating per night. We offer a wonderful intimate dining experience. Our restaurant is good for romantic dinners, special occasions, private parties and business dinners.

We had the four course prixe-fix dinner and it was beyond our expectations. The food was outstanding and the service just as wonderful. This is not for picky eaters, but if you are open minded and love good food, you will not be disappointed! You meet at 6.30 at the tavern where you see the menu for the first time, order your dinner wine and enjoy a pre-dinner drink. Then the feast begins. We each picked a different entree so we could try them both and they were both so good, we could not even pick a favorite. The wine list offers an option for every taste and every budget. There was nothing we would change and plan to come for the 7 course dinner and stay at the Inn on our next trip

The Rustic Rooster Restaurant/Grill

Thank you Goggle Maps & Trip
Advisor !! Just finished golf at Proctor-Pittsfield and needed a place to eat.
Yes, Rutland but they are chains. Wanted local flavor/color. Saw in our direction on GM-TA: Victoria Inn in Wallingford & Rustic Rooster in Cuttingsville (or to some Shrewsbury). Our dress dictated RR!

Shared their salad 'Rustic Rooster' filled with feta, crannies, onions, tomatos w/maple vinegarette. So large, four could share it!

Their menu is diverse, and they add specials too (on blackboard stand by your table). Basics are salads, pizza, burgers. They upscale entrees!
We had burgers. Cooked the way we ordered. Comes w/FF or cole slaw. Some extra $$ options too. Satisfying !!

Beers on tap or they have full bar.
Small w/apx 6 tables and apx 12 bar seats.
The place was hopping!!
Whether a traveler, local, Rutlander - go here sometime.

We went for dinner at River Tavern one evening a few weeks ago when we were on holiday in the area. We hadn't booked, and were given a slightly cold shoulder on arrival which made us feel rather awkward. We were given a table and a menu, and thereafter I have never had such swift service - but swift to the point of being rude! I have never before (in a paying environment!) had my plate snatched away from me so quickly after putting down my knife and fork. We just had the distinct impression that they wanted us to hurry up because they had done us the favour of squeezing us in! The service was peremptory and not at all friendly. The food was very expensive (I had a very ordinary pasta dish such as you would expect to get in any pasta-serving restaurant) but it was the price of something much more sophisticated. I ordered pumpkin pie afterwards because I assumed this should be something quite special in an expensive restaurant in the USA (home of pumpkin pie) but I am sad to say that I had to leave it because it was revolting and I just couldn't eat it. I am a great lover of pumpkin pie back home in the UK but this one tasted of everything artificial and was a worrying bright orange colour. I strongly suspected it had been bought in mass produced. We paid $120 for the meal which I thought was a terrible lot of money for the quality of food and service. I hate that feeling when you know you have been ripped off and have been daft enough to fall for it!
