Food-wise this place deserves five stars. The view is also stunning. The negative point for this restaurant is the noise that the staff makes to communicate to each other. For some reason they were shouting to each other to synchronize. I would prefer the service to be couple of minutes late than have to listen the noise the staff makes.

The view is great, over Plakias bay, a stunner.But the food....well, how can something as simple but usually tasty as Lamb Souvlakis be so poor? It wasn't chargrilled/barbecued at all, but overcooked and surprisingly tough.I guess it was then simply threaded onto a skewer, as if done the proper way.Two tiny pieces of red and green pepper added for colour.
Octopus salad was overcooked octopus(frozen rather than fresh I'd guess).
We were given complimentary Chocolate Mousses, unpleasant in taste and texture.
Service was unbelievably slow, despite there only being 4 of us in the place.
Such a shame these places live on their situation and to hang with quality of food given to the tourists.We had several wonderful meals on Crete - this was the poorest by far.

Definitely the best restaurant we discovered in Plakias - a bit off the beaten track but well worth finding. Not your typical Greek taverna but more classy and upmarket. Good ambience, background music and stylish interior. Liked everything on the menu and the specials changed daily. We ate there 5 times in a fortnight and thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Everything sampled was delicious, prices reasonable and service excellent. Even the house wine was the best. One starter was always enough to share and on each occasion we were given a little treat to finish with a jug of raki. What more could you ask for?

This was our 3rd visit to Plakias in as many years, and never tried Tasomanolis as we thought is was a fish restaurant, and although I like fish, I don't like bones so never eat fish out!!
We were pleasantly surprised with the different options on the menu, so we ate here twice during our 8 night stay at the end of June 17. The first time we shared the stuffed zucchini flowers as a starter, and they were lovely, I had the chicken souvlaki for my main, my brother in-law had pork and my wife had the best mousaka she's ever had, it had been baked a little bit longer and so had crunchy bits of aubergine which gave it another dimension. The mousaka was sold on us so the 2nd time we all had it, and although very nice, my wife was a little disappointed as it lacked the crispy bit. The mousaka is served in individual dishes, not the usual square piece from a larger dish!
The wine in Crete is not the best, but the white wine at Tasomanolis was very drinkable, so we had a few carafes!!
Would recommend to anyone, the fish dishes appeared to be very fresh, but unfortunately not to our tastes (I don't like picking through food to find bones!!), but that's nothing to do with various restaurants.

Our taverna,TAVERNA MARIOU is a traditional Greek Taverna where we serve delicious mediterranean food made with extra care by the family and by using only local products. Taverna Mariou is absolutely one of the most delicious places to enjoy a meal in the South of Crete. Always great food, service and atmosphere. Anything you order is delicious. These owners are passionate and educated about food, presentation and service. It is definitely a must visit.

Attractively located with views out over the sea, with large boulders in that no doubt provide a great environment for marine life, and provide some visual interest.
We ate regularly in this restaurant some years ago when holidaying in Plakias, and it hasn't changed much, if at all. Same friendly face welcomes you.
The menu is relatively brief and quite heavily biased towards seafood and fish; we had hummous and tzatziki for starters and beef for main courses. It was enough for lunchtime, and very delicious - in particular, the hummous was spectacular.

Cenetta OTTIMA dall'antipasto al dessert, servita con cura e premura dagli affabili gestori! Ci torneremo ovviamente. A VERY tasty dinner, from the start to the dessert, served with care and attention by the friendly owner. We'll be there again, of course.

That was an accidental find. Fine location with the Terrace view, gentle wind breeze, fantastic food and friendly service. Proper relaxing atmosphere and QUIET. You will find what you want to eat and will not be dissapointed like in many 'resort-picture-food' junk restaurants.

Perfect location, amazing views but something was missing there, food was not as good as in the other tavernas we have visited. For fast lunch on the beach- maybe but not for romantic dinner.
