It is the most populous city in Northern Finland and the fifth most populous city in the country. There are no larger cities, apart from Murmansk and Norilsk, Russia, that are more northerly than Oulu. It is also considered one of Europe's "living labs", where residents experiment with new technology (such as NFC tags and ubi-screens) at a community-wide scale.

Just love this atmosphere in the cellar of Stockmann. Great pizzas and good other alternatives too. Enjoyed the chicken of the devil with goat cheese. Good wine list, especially organic wines.

Restaurant is located some hundred meters from main walking district. Decoration is greek with white and blue table clothes.
Menu is mainly highlighting Crecian specialties or house specialities. We Afrodite Chicken, which comes with haloumi cheese and pepper sauce. The other one was chicken souvlaki. Both portion came with option of different potatoes or additional salad. My with potato wedges didn't feel very Greek, more American. Entire portion was bit dry, they recommend to have souvlaki with pita and tzaziki. Honestly that makes portion too big for Europeans to consume. Size vs price, make good deal, you are full when you leave.
Staff was nice.

Indian Cuisine is a family (Nusrat and Ari) run Indian restaurant. Ari cooks and Nusrat serves. We also do have a excellent team. We are the oldest Indian restaurant in Oulu (been here for more than 10 years). We are located opposite to railway station in Oulu. The concept of Indian Cuisine is not "Fine Dining" but rather dining fine. We present various Indian dishes in traditional form. We make everything in-house starting from meat cutting everyday, making sauce everyday etc. We use 200 kg onion and 50 kg tomato every week. We use individual spices for maximum flavour. Nusrat is the head waitress and Ari is the head chef.

This restaurant never fails to come up with outstanding Indian food - no.1 in Oulu. There are other Indian restaurants but they do not compare with Indian Cuisine. Buffet lunch great value.

No reservation, so came here early. I have been turned away before because the restaurant was fully booked. Had a scallop appetizer and catch of the day. Both were excellent. Great wine selection. Very comfortable restaurant. Wait staff is professional - just the right amount of attention. No problem for two English speakers - menu in Finnish and English. Wish I had room for dessert!

Excellent ! We drank as an appetitive Joiku Cocktail With Lingonberry Mousse And Vodka, Excellent! The homemade bread was good but maybe the butter could have been with rock salt?
SalmonRoll with three variations of salmon was excellent, especially the salmon mousse! Duck risotto with mushrooms and redcurrant was good, only the method of cooking misses the real fire, like for example in Catalonias traditional restaurants.
The red wine Chateau De Cayx Cahors, Malbec was excellent and we were the lucky ones to taste it and recommend it to the wine list: wide and deep taste that in the end kept the taste very soft in the mouth
The dessert was Yoghurt Ice Cream with lime: great way to end the dinner: maybe 1-2 leafs of mint could have made it higher ending for the excellent gastronomic experience in Oulu!

Actually in top two in my home city. Hard to judge is it the best and I admit that five stars given (I give it really rarely) because wanted to recommend this restaurant for visitors in Oulu. I had to visit here five times before giving five stars - just to be sure about this...
Good things: Located at the market square near by Toripolliisi-statue (it is not poliisi in Oulu :) ), building is old and renovated with taste and honored the traditional style, this restaurant really tries to give fine dining-experience using local fish,vegetables,berrys etc., creative menus and very good taste components found in every bite, probably the best wine selection in Oulu - and they've done good job with the menu pairings, the staff is friendly.
Something I would do differently: We like to focus in food when dining - specially in winter's dark nights the big televisions on the wall are not giving anything but too bright environment. Okay there is coming artpictures from Finnish nature but if you enjoying fine dinner with company - this is not my thing.
Price is a little more than average restaurants but totally worth it. So if you are looking for quality dinner in Oulu this place must be considered. Seasonal menus gives well hints and flavours of traditional dishes near by.

The restaurant is on the upper floor of an old building. The interior is nicely decorated. Their lunch buffet offer is worth the price but nothing extraordinary. The buffet includes sallad and a couple of warm options. Furthermore you'll have a dessert and coffee. The place is quite buzy during lunch, but you should have no problem finding a table.

Ordered the "normal" portion of beef, which tasted pretty good, although the amount of beef given is quite little for the normal portion. But it is still filling, as the dish comes with a generous serving of fried slices of potatoes which I really enjoyed. Came with a nice combination of sauce which really added to the flavor of beef and potatoes.
