Rockland Bakery

Specifically, my daughter-in-law, to know what a gem this place is. She and my son flew in from Seattle, and after that first hot, fresh bagel straight off of the oven, she had me bring her back two more times. It's a consumer-friendly industrial experience, where you put on your plastic glove, and pick from bins and racks of the freshest, best tasting baked goods you ever ate. I've heard from many restaurants in the area that their breads, served next to their signature dishes, come from Rockland Bakery, and it's no Wonder (yes, pun intended!)

I plan on visiting more frequently, and not taking this wonderful place for granted any longer.

Blu Fig

Unlike its Stony Point offshoot, Blu Fig New City is a big hit. Perhaps it's the ambiance of the cobblestone courtyard outside abuzz with people dining al fresco, or of the tin-ceilinged interior that faces a beautiful large pizza oven. Or perhaps it's the large portions and low prices. Though everyone seems to love this restaurant, we have to give it a very mixed review. That picturesque high tin ceiling and the cavernous interior amplify every sound: at lunchtime and dinnertime the noise is overwhelming and conversation is impossible. The quantity and quality of the food vary by dish: the main dish salads are fresh, original, delicious and very affordable: my favorites are the Mediterranean and Southwestern, both very generous with the shrimp. But the chefs' originality doesn't always pay off: the hummus neither looks nor tastes like the real thing; sandwiches are overpriced and understuffed: it's hard to taste anything but the bread; most main dishes are large but diner quality, the exception being their excellent chicken kebabs. By all means stop by and try this restaurant for yourself, but pick your time and menu selection carefully.

Great coffee. Bagels and flagels are the best. They even have my belly lox which is hard to find. I love the scallion cream cheese too. My son loves the HOBO. We pick up food from there often.

We dined outside and it was a beautiful night. The service is really good. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The prices are fair and the food is always fresh. I had my favorite , tortilla soup and quesadillas. My 12 yr. old had a cheeseburger and french fries. There is a good selection for everyone and I am very picky. Can't wait to come back

Had dinner here with some friends. I've been here before and have never been dissappointed. I had the veal parm and others in the group had other things. A very special Thank You to Rocco and his beautiful wife Madeline, they made us feel right at home. Also a big Thank You to our server Marie and Agurio who has served us in the past. For great Italian or other dishes be sure to stop at Rocco's. Great food and service.

Goldberg's Famous Bagels

This place is terrible. Unless, of course, you know the people who work there. Then you can walk in like you own the place. I was on line waiting for service for over 10 minutes. People were walking behind the counter and making their own coffee and other stuff. I was bewildered. Then when the guy at the counter asked to help the man in back of me, of course he knew him well, I was like "excuse me, am I invisible?" Which then started a big argument which resulted in my leaving unserved. I wouldn't waste time in a place where if you don't know the people who work there you just get ignored.

Fantastic beer, great service and amazing food. Simply a complete package.Remember it's a brewery so don't expect anything fancy. The food though, is really great. Had almost every dish and still find it amazing. They brew great beer and have several from other breweries on tap. The new tasting room is usually less crowded and offers a view of the brewery. Highly, highly recommended. be prepared for crowds though!

Sazone

Found this small restaurant while visiting New City last weekend and stopped in for an early dinner. Not much atmosphere, but this should be a visit for the offerings on the menu. It is a tapas-type restaurant, Latin & Mediterranean fusion, with a mix of offerings. I tried the tapas: I was expecting small bite size morsels for tapas, but that is not the case here. Yes, they are delicious tapas, you cut them to size and share at the table. We tried a Portobello-cheese mushroom special that was seasoned beautifully. Some of us continued with tapas as main course, such as chorizo and fresh cooked vegetables, while others went for the traditional chicken parmesan and chicken francese. All choices were well prepared - delicious! We brought home half our meal, as they are quite generous servings. There is a small yet full bar, where patrons were enjoying a soccer game on large screen TV. I liked the fact that tables were well spaced from each other, allowing conversation that did not eavesdrop on the neighbors' tables.
All in all, a good place for dinner for two under $40. We will be back!

Let's just say that here in New City, we are "well endowed" when it comes to sushi restaurants. My daughter recommended Kobe to me, having become a regular customer this summer with her friends. I agree - the sushi is very nice. Pleasant service, fresh ingredients, some fun rolls. I will return.

Hello fellow readers and fans i grew up in this area and have since relocated and I still crave the kosher Deli back in the good old days. I came up to visit family and this is a must see visit. The food is delicious, and the decor is simply perfect for this restaurant. I love the New York feel and the deli aroma that seeps through the air. The regulars come in and greeted by name. It's the perfect old neighborhood deli . The pastrami is delicious, the knishes are great. The French fries to die for. If you are in the mood for deli this is the place. Remember fellow readers and fans to always dine fabulous.
