La Paella Restaurant

Reviewed By kimstarnes

This place was recommended to us by a local as being worth the journey. They weren't wrong. Maria picked us up in her boat, took us to see the floating art gallery then back to her and eduardo's amazing hand built restaurant. We were served the most fantastic tapas followed by a fire cooked Paella. Following dinner we were treated to some authentic Spanish music from the very talented Eduardo. Overall it was a fantastic evening. Be sure to book ahead and take a bottle or two of red wine with you . Getting there involves a 15 minute taxi to Ano beach, which is quite secluded so its worth arranging for the taxi to come back to collect you. We used a local guy called James who we'd definitely recommend.

A nice friendly restaurant with a cultural awareness . Really enjoyed the dancing and singing the evening we went and my tropical fish dish was delightful.

Mango Cafe

Come and visit us for lunch, dinner or sunset drinks on the waterfront in Neiafu on the island of Vava'u in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Went there a couple of times while my week in Tonga, and everybody had the same feelings . The only very good thing is the position, right on the dock with a stunning sunset view . That is it.
Food is more expensive than other places nearby and tastes way worst . Portions are also smaller.
But the worst thing is the staff: those ladies are so rude you just wanna stand up and change place . Which I have done during my last visit.
It is surprisingly on an island where everybody is so smiling and welcoming and warm hearted .

Poolside Cafe Bar & Restaurant

Simply Italian - Uniquely Canadian. Situated in the heart of town at the Puataukanave Int Hotel by the pool. Open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner, on Sunday for brunch from 11am. Full menu, daily and weekly specials, including "poutine" - a Canadian favourite!

We called in for a meal at about 7.30 PM. The place is nicely decorated, the furniture rather grand looking but comfortable, the menu limited. The flesh of the fish in my fish and chips was brown and chewy. My colleague's curry was so so. We wanted to pay by card, but it seemed to be too much of a challenge to go the office to do this. Prices were on the high side by local comparisons. I wouldn't bother.

This was our favorite restaurant in the area. Wifi was universally lousy in town except for the paid wifi at the Aquarium, which was excellent, and the Tropicana Cafe. A perfect spot for sunset!

Blue Lagoon Cafe

Reviewed By MyDailyPlanet - London, United Kingdom

We anchored Tin Tin of St. Mawes in the amazing azure waters of the Blue Lagoon and admired the colourful cafe and cottages on stilts. It turned out that the resort wasn't open to guests yet, but then a canoe paddled out to us and invited us to come ashore to eat a freshly caught red snapper for supper.
The cafe overlooks the lagoon and as the sun set we came ashore at the jetty and found a beautifully laid table ready for us. The owners son, Otto, served us a delicious fish dish with pele (local spinach) in coconut milk and rice for a reasonable T $25 a head (£8). We were invited to bring our own beer and wine as the bar was not yet stocked.
Our host, Otto, gave us a great welcome and regaled us with interesting tales of whales and showed amazing photos of diving with them in the lagoon.
A beautiful spot where I could spend another happy day.

Amazing place for burgers. It is located right in the harbor, with a special touch for being "out of the way" a little. hint: you can get to them through stairs or taking a sharp turn from the market. Quiet, relaxing, authentic, outdoors-pub like setting.
Loved this place very much and all the people there. The view is very relaxing, in a quiet part. The Seating is "outside" so there is no A/C, but the fans work great. The burger though. It's the reason to go back.

We visited this Vava'u newcomer today for lunch and were very satisfied! We tried their thinly sliced cured ham with fried egg and cream cheese on Canadian bannock buns. We were even more impressed with their pigs in a blanket. This included their new spicy chorizo with home-made chilli sauce, accompanied by handmade lemonade - total win! We also got some maple cured bacon to take back to our resort to tart up breakfast tomorrow because we're getting a bit bored with scrambled eggs. Would happily return - friendly Canadian proprietors & a (nice) dog called Killer.
