WaterWheel Cafe Bakery Bar

Situated on the Sawkill Creek, in Milford, PA the Waterwheel Café, Bakery & Bar was started in April of 1989 in a restored 19th century water-powered mill, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in the early 1800's this lively example of American history is now in action and its doors are open to the public. Water rushes over the three-story high water-wheel, driving a series of shafts, gears, pulleys and belts that once powered the stones & grain-milling equipment, all visible through the glass walls of the Café & Bar. Starting at first as a bakery & lunch café the Waterwheel has grown into a full scale restaurant, bakery and bar-serving breakfast & lunch daily with dinners being served Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Waterwheel's customers are comfortable in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The kitchen staff consistently prepares a fresh and flavorful eclectic menu that excites not only the palate, but the eye as well.

We've eaten at this restaurant before on several occasions. My husband and I love Vietnamese food and this place is the closest place to us (45 minutes) that serves it. My husband specifically requested that there be no coriander in his noodle dish. The waitress obviously heard him and seemed to note it on her pad, but the dish still came with it. He had to pick it all out of the dish. My Vietnamese sandwich should have been on French bread, not an ordinary hero. Also, it had none of the delightful Vietnamese spicing, and looked and tasted like an ordinary American hero. On the bright side, the macaroni salad and coffee were excellent....but that wasn't why we chose to eat there.

The bakery has breads, pastries, desserts, hot drinks, cold drinks, soups, salads & sandwiches. I got a few things & had to run out before I bought more! I bought-croissant, walnut brownie, caramel filled brownie, cheesecake square, chicken salad sandwich, olive loaf & multigrain loaf. They were all delicious!

Frisky Goat Coffeehouse

Excellent locally roasted coffees: organic, fair trade, single origin. Iced coffees (coffee ice cubes!), Espresso, cappuccino and a wide assortment of delicious specialty lattes. We also carry an assortment of yummy smoothies made with greek yogurt and real fruit. Our food items include artisan pastries, wraps, sandwiches, gluten free muffins and cookies, a hummus platter and breakfast sandwiches, with new items being added to our menu all the time.

The Frisky Goat makes good coffee - and they make "bullet proof" coffee. However, often times the baked offerings don't seem fresh (or truly delicious) and the options for food are extremely limited. I often wonder how TFG will sustain itself in such a large location with such limited options and hours. We have a small population, and other coffee houses in the same location have failed because selling coffee is not that profitable. It would be so nice to have a place like this where you could get an interesting salad or sandwich for lunch, or something really freshly made for breakfast. When I have gone, which is pretty frequent, there are few people. They have a loyal following, but I wish there was more energy exuded from TFG. It always seems very low energy to me, and while the service is fine, it's not enthusiastic.

Village Diner

Reviewed By Z3473SBThomas_M - Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania

We tried the Diner for breakfast two months ago and were disappointed so after saying we would not go back we decided to try it again this time for Lunch. It was like night and day. We had a Philly Cheese Steak and a Rubin Sandwich both were very good, fries that came with them were from frozen so nothing special. We had a soda and coffee milk shake which was made with fresh ice cream at the counter machine, nice to see a real milk shake. We really splurged and had pumpkin cheese cake and German chocolate cake with coffee, both were very good but again not made on site.
Our only issue the entire time we were at the diner was a gentlemen doing a little bit of everything I'm guessing manager or owner, set tables, bussed tables, sat customers down, ticket cash out at the register etc. to and including handling fork, knife rolling them up in a napkin for table service. Thus the problem he never washed his hands or wore gloves when handling the table wares. Also when our deserts came to us our server pulled forks from fresh wraps of wares by the pointed end with her fingers. Some serv-safe education is needed at the diner as I can only wonder what might be going on in the kitchen area if this was happening at the counter. Service other wise was very good on this rainy Sunday early afternoon.

We stopped here for lunch while we were visiting the Milford Music Festival. The service was great. We both had the ham and cheese crepes and split a berry crepe for desert. They were both good. This is a great restaurant and is an important part of Milfords revitalization.

It's a good ice-crème place on a hot day. The place always has plenty of people waiting for ice-crème. It's fresh, fast & friendly.
The flavors aren't as exciting as they sound when you read the descriptions, but it's still good ice-crème.
They often have live music in their "Band Shell" tent - The musicians are generally just 'so-so' but it's fun.

I feel a little stupid leaving a review for a Dunkin Donuts but the service here both mornings was dismal. An older Indian woman and a young Indian guy behind the counters were the offenders.... Nasty personalities , no smiles, no thank you's and really unpleasant . Try the bagel place around the block or the little pasty shop ... Much nicer people .

We came across this restaurant while checking out the attached antique stores. This place is tucked in the back of an old historic lumber business. Pizza was exceptional. Our waitress was an older lady probably with many miles on those waitressing shoes, but she was delightful and efficient. Nice indoor seating and rustic seating outside for warm weather. I'm glad we found this gem of a place.
