I thoroughly enjoyed my grilled veal porterhouse steak last night here. Excellent service too. The appetizers were very different- not really anything that I would ever try again but I do applaud the chef on his creations. The salads were very good as well. Great spot overall!

Mabry Mill Restaurant

Reviewed By Vickie W - Greenville, SC

There are not many places to eat on the parkway so we stopped here for a late breakfast. The hostess was one of the worst we have ever encountered. She did not even speak to us. Looked at us as we walked up to the hostess stand. Told her two she grabbed menus headed to a table, plopped them down and hurried away. It was quite amazing that you can be a hostess without speaking one word.
Hubby had biscuits and gravy and I had buckwheat pancakes. It was all very mediocre. Service was fine but nothing spectacular. I was actually surprised that the service was not friendly. If we had no other choice we would go back but would not make a special trip.

Stopped in on the way to Primland. A really great old school country store, with all the fixings and trademark southern hospitality. Stop in and even have these folks make you a custom sandwich!

19th Pub

We recently ate at the 19th Pub several times while staying at Primland. It's open for most of the day and evening and reservations aren't required. The menu has a nice variety and the food is well prepared, although our burgers on one afternoon were overcooked. Don't miss the "pig candy" as it's incredibly good.

The servers are very nice; however, they are sometimes a little hard to find. They didn't seem to check back after the food was delivered.

Jane's is a small local cafe serving good local food just off the Parkway. Just behind the cafe is a produce stand that offers local produce, jellies, jams, and mountain crafts. Simply a fun stop where you just might find a Bluegrass band playing in the parking lot.

Crooked Road Cafe

Living in the area this is the one place we love to pop in for lunch. The chicken calzone and gyro is our order every time because they are so tasty and a good portion. The only complaint is that they don't have regular water. They will only serve bottled water which you must pay for. I bring my own water. The view off the back deck is nice and there is a mill museum next door.

We recently had dinner (again) at Stables while we stayed at Primland. They offer the "Chuck Wagon" buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. It includes ribs, chicken, catfish, brisket, a nice selection of salads/sides, and dessert. All of the food was well prepared and we left stuffed.

There's a bluegrass group that plays during dinner. They are local, very interactive, and very good. Dinner and entertainment for $35 pp. is a good value and we enjoyed the evening.
