It's not often we're disappointed with a restaurant after basing our decision to visit or not on TripAdvisor reviews, but in this case we really were.
Firstly, being situated in a beautiful historical townsquare, you don't expect to have to have dinner in an empty restaurant with an impatient waitor and an Eminem album blaring out from the speakers. Utterly unacceptable. Adding insult to injury, the waitor very publicly and loudly started cashing up just after serving our meals, and you could hear the kitchen staff fooling around and making a racket - very unprofessional.
Our food was very average. We live in Budapest and my partner is Hungarian so we know full well what good Hungarian food is. This lacked flavour, passion and was most disappointing.

We had dinner two times in this restaurant. The cuisine is Hungarian very tasty and meals are prepared with love. You can choose from beef, pork, veal, chicken or fish. For drinks you can try either wine or beer and you never lose.
It is not easy to find this restaurant it lays on the side street so it is better to use navigation.
Finally I recommend for visit.

Right next to the Castle gates this restaurant is perfectly located. You wouldn't tell by the exterior but inside you can sense the touch of history - heavy thick wooden chairs and long tables, all sorts of middle-age weapons and flags hanging on the walls. The friendly staff won't bother the bunch of kids running up and down and it's not too long until you get your first meal. Spicing of the soups were perfect. Then we ordered roast deer with blueberry sauce and the flavours matched perfectyl The beef was so crispy that you won't usually get from other cooks in common restaurants.

This is a very nice place with a garden where everybody can drink good, Hungarian wines. The stuff are nice and well-informed, the wines are good and the environment is perfect for a glass of wine. I was there on a Wednesday evening for a quick meal. The restaurant is pleasantly situated on the fabulous main square, I was the only guest there that evening though. The menu is quite wide, caters for different tastes. The decor is nice, the only downside was the radio on the speakers,- why do they not play some music instead, maybe in line with the design?
The staff was friendly, the service fast ( OK, I was alone...) and the meal was great, - try the chilli steak with tortilla if you fancy hot food!

We had Dinner at the restaurant, with a large circle of family members & friends. The food was ok, big portions :). Service was kind, but not outstanding. I recommend it for those who want to try typical Hungarian dishes.
