Biela Labut

Reviewed By morelucknexttime - USA

We were there in august 2016 in the afternoon. Unfortunately there was nothing pleasant about the environment. There was a large, noisy group, having no consideration for other people. Another negative, very common nowadays in Slovakia, is the playground/ kids corner in department stores, restaurants, that allows the parents to enjoy themselves while ignoring their kids. The kids are noisy, The parents scream at their kids from the distance from the table what to do, what not to do. Instead of teaching their kids how to behave in a restaurant, a teachable moment, they scream over other guest tables, disrupting the whole atmosphere, This is the story in the summer time at this restaurant. It has a playground atmosphere with mediocre food. Also tried food in March 2015, not impressed.
Park recommended for a pleasant walk, Biela labud restaurant not recommended.

Restauracia Maly Mlyn

Maly Mlyn is a small restaurant along the borderline of Slovakia and Hungary, with a selection of traditional slovakian food. The service, the food and the experience is average, with some minor ups and downs (selection - OK; food - several of them are very tasty, some of them are average; service - sometimes a letdown, sometimes kind and helpful...) Sometimes the music is also too loud. The fireplace helps to build a cosy atmosphere during winter times. Price/value ratio is OK.

Nice bistro with good service. I am used to a larger portion for main course , but ok for the price, (would be nice to see a large home made gourmet Burger in the menu). Risotto with grilled vegetables was very tasty, soup could be more seasoned or put some S&P on the tables. Free wifi. Thumb up for me.

Pizzeria Zbrojnica

I happened to be heading back westwards from Lučenec and thought that I would stop here in Halič and give this place a try...
This restaurant happens to be owned by a fairly well known (in Slovakia ) Television celebrity by the name of Jožo Pročko.. formerly famous for playing pranks on unsuspecting members of the general public..
perhaps this is not so important to mention in a restaurant review except to say that a fairly large number of people seem to visit this place simply because they may get a chance to see Mr. Pročko in person.
anyway.. it was a windy autumnal day when I arrived and went inside and asked the friendly serving girl if I could sit outside on the front Terrace as I had little dog with me for lunch.. no problem she said.
The restaurant is large, clean and tidy with a pleasant atmosphere and the staff seemed helpful and friendly ( this is somewhat unusual in this country).
I took my seat on the Terrace and looked at the menu of pizzas.. I noticed that apart from the usual combinations they also had one or two slightly unusual versions on offer such as salami and peach pizza or the UFO pizza with a second pizza base on top ( kind of like a crazy calzone I imagine) they even offer a chocolate dessert pizza.
..anyway being a little conservative in nature ordered a salami pizza with extra sweetcorn on it.. and a cold coca-cola.
While I was waiting on the outside Terrace a steady stream of elderly pensioners began to arrive at the restaurant all keen it seemed to catch a glimpse of their renowned host..
The pizza when it arrived was quite good. good quality ingredients and a nice gilding of garlic. I was quite satisfied.
When I went inside to pay the bill the place had become absolutely packed with eager elderly diners who were all having a great time, some singing together and there in the midst of it all was Mr Pročko himself. the old folks were clearly delighted and It was nice to see everyone having such a good time.
All in all it was well worth a visit.
a good, clean honest restaurant with friendly, helpful staff and a happy welcoming atmosphere.
it may not win any prizes for high-gastronomy but I would definitely recommend it to anyone passing-by in this general area.
I shall go again when I am next in the area and shall take others with me.

Restaurant Carda

V carde sme boli v auguste 2016 cez tyzden, okolo 3 poobede.
Jednoducha zdvorilost. Boli by sme pockali.
