Le Husky

Reviewed By Steven F

We were a group of family friends, and we booked an early dinner as we had children 10-16 who were tired and hungry after skiing.
We were pleasantly surprised to get a booking at the last minute and were made welcome upon arrival. The manager (owner?) was friendly and we were served drinks quickly and orders were taken quickly.
Sadly the Moules were unavailable which was a disappointment but steaks and burgers were first rate, cooked exactly as ordered. Medium means medium at Le Husky!
The wine list was quite good, unexpectedly no house wine but the local Savoyard red was light, almost slightly 'frizante' and quite enjoyable at €25 a bottle.
It was quite a good meal, the service was occasionally a little Brusque, but hey, that's France. We will definitely return.

Had fondue in preparation of long hiking day in poor weather. Salad Savoy good, fondue rather standard. One waitress but she handled all the tables with grace.

Had a lovely evening meal here. Fondu was best we have had anywhere and buckwheat crepes were fab.€20 for most expensive wine was very pallatable. Place was full so booking advisable. Noticed most of the other restaurants we passed were empty. Would definitely recommend this place for traditional local meal in great ambience.

We have holidayed in the French Alps for four years and always use this restaurant/bakery for all our bread and pastries. Frederick the owner is exceptionally accommodating and his staff are all great. We have eaten lunch there and it is delicious and hearty - simple regional fare and priced appropriately given the location. He allows us to sneak in really early to collect our breakfast goods each morning. All the staff are attentive and polite and they can't do enough for you. I put down 'breakfast' for why I was here, but we had brunch, lunch and just coffees regularly during each stay. Frederick and his staff always remember repeat visitors - which is quite a feat given how busy the village resort is during winter - we always visit summer during Tour de France.

We booked in advance from England for New Year's Eve and at the time there was no mention of the menu being any different. We arrived for our booking with our two children and looked at the menu that was placed in front of us which made us absolutely panic as the set menu, even for children, was 75 euros per person! The waitress really apologised and told us that she had felt like calling us as the menu had only just been changed by the owner! However, she didn't and we've never done this before as it is so very embarrassing but we walked out...and then walked to every single restaurant in Les Contamines to try and find somewhere to have a meal....We were very lucky with Le Husky and were welcomed with open arms..!!!

La Buche Croisee

La Buche croisee is a Restaurant on the slopes in the ski resort of "Les contamines Montjoie" we serve traditional savoyard dishes, such as "Croutes savoyardes", "Tartiflette" and more. we open every day during the winter season from mid-december to the end of april We got a big sunny Terrace from where you can see Les domes de miage just before the "mont blanc"

It’s my second time skiing in Les Contamines and my second time having lunch here on the pistes.
The Terrace is a perfect spot when the weather permits, but also the indoor space is nicely decorated and welcoming.
Service is efficient and caring. The guy at the bar even offered us some genepì on the house while we were getting ready to leave.
Quality of food is excellent and presentation is much better than the typical venues you find on the slopes. Today both the magret de canard and the filet de porc were absolute winners, as the potato gratin and the croute served as sides were great too.
I will surely go back to this place whenever I am skiing in the area.
Congratulations to the whole team for such a gem on the snow.

We stayed at this lovely hotel as part of a tour on TMB and what a perfect example of hospitality and French cuisine is set here. The standards are high and the service from the moment you walk in is welcoming and charming.
The restaurant offered a 5 course dining experience of top notch French cuisine. The courses were devine and we barely had room left to manage the dessert! The French mushroom soup was the best ever followed by a perfectly cooked pork dish that melted in your mouth. The cheese plate is self serve and covers all locally sourced cheeses. The dessert though was to die for - double chocolate cake.
You have to go and give yourself a treat.

this tiny restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome. the kitchen is also tiny so it was a hugely impressive performance to provide such good service and food. i almost gave it a very good rating, but good as the food was, it was not that special - typical savoyarde dishes rich in reblochon cheese and potatoes. had chicken rather than steak. it was wrapped in cured ham and coated in cheese. tasty enough but my little niggle was the absence of any healthy options. no green vegatables. no fish or seafood. just high calorific values at every twist and turn. coupled with large portions, you really do need to be hungry and I guess I was not.
worth a visit for the savoyarde experience but once a month is enough.
wine was excellent cote de rhone.

It doesn't get much better than this, tucked away requiring a bit of an adventure to ski into it, perfect views, cute little alpage setting, idyllic alpine hut dining room, gorgeous home-cooked food served by the friendly owner and her staff.
It was so obvious that everyone was enjoying it so much that tables of diners started spontaneously chatting with each other. What a great atmosphere.
The toughest thing was dragging ourselves away to return to skiing.
