Bambou et Basilic

After Reading the last review I must have gone to a different restaurant _ I hadn't

The food is average, good but without too much excitement , well if you put 3 small slices of Pastry on a salad and think its creative - you know what I mean
The main course was shin of pork, easy enough, cheap meat cooked slowly becomes very tender , I accept the fatty outside is normal
The dessert was a pastry slice with apple and fig on , again good but not exciting or particularly challenging
When I eat at a fine dining restaurant I expect better
The wine a st Emillion was excellent at 26 euros
I also live in perth in Australia and can reccomend two outstanding restaurants
Chez Pierre on the Stirling highway Nedlands and the loose box at munderring
Both French and 1st class
No - if you want a good average clean restaurant , this will do, if you like haut cuisine give it a miss
There were only my wife and I an a group of 4 there on the night

It was our first meal of the day, and what a delightful experience! Friendly french speaking staff and yet: no problems at all! The setting is superb, a garden just below the impressive Cathedral! Had lunch: the maison's speciality: lasagne with lentils& sausage! Remarkable, I must say!tasty and nor drenched in melted cheese!! After this meal, we were carbo-loaded to tackle all of up-hilll Le Puy-en-Velay!

We wanted to try somewhere new and got the idea of Chamarlenc from TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. I think that our only regret was that we were not able to try everything.
The dishes were presented with style and were delicious. While hard to single out anything, the yoghurt dessert was very special and who would have guessed lentille confiture?
Absolutely worth the experience.

To fully enjoy the gastronomic experience chez Tournayre, ensure that you have a big appetite. The cheese cart itself is worth the visit! Also, I would recommend booking at this serious restaurant as a lot of preparation is necessary for this haute cuisine. Bravo, Eric!

Friendly staff and unusual setting. Locals eat there so that says a lot! We both had the set meal at 32.50 euros each. Plenty of food, well presented and delicious. Large mixture of clientele, from couples, a family with a baby and a diner eating alone.

Comme a la Maison

We enjoyed our meal in the courtyard on a sunny day. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can't describe accurately all the different dishes as it was a while ago ( I shouldn't have waited this long to write the review...) but the photos speak for themselves.
The food was lovely. We liked everything but particularly enjoyed the tomato trilogy ( crème brûlée, gaspacho and classic mozarella & tomato combo ). The duck with its potato emulsion and peaches was a treat. Small prices, big flavours. The lunch menu was at the time €27 without drinks.
Its a great address if you're in the Puy en Velay.

The modern glass frontage is a total contrast to the place next door which is consciously 'authentically historic'. Inside is also monochrome minimalist design. The menu doesn't have a lot of choice but is reasonably priced. While I chose 3 courses for E22 menu, my partner had 2courses for E18 skipping an entree because there was nothing that appealed. I had a nice salmon with a creamy risotto for my main course but the entree and dessert were nothing special. However my partner enjoyed his pave de boeuf aux morilles and the tarte au citron. With a glass of wine, a beer and a coffee our total bill was 57 euros which we felt was reasonable value.

Great value set menu - 25 euros (dinner). The food isn't overly fancy, doesn't push any boundaries but it is treated with respect and served well. My partner had soupe de poissons, then chicken stuffed with mushrooms followed by a dessert of baked apple & caramel. I had rabbit terrine, a large and succulent pork chop with cheese rather than dessert. They serve very good red wine by the glass (a Faugeres). Total bill for 2 including drinks and a coffee = 65 euros. It is a family run restaurant, the lady looking after us was helpful and friendly.

Our first meal as we arrived to start walking the Via Podensis. They wanted to seat us at a tiny table for two (there are only 2 of us). They soon realized why we needed a bigger table!! This place serves local cuisine and we needed a big introduction. Service was fine once he got over the annoyance of the determined tourist! The food came quickly and was well prepared. There were two tables of locals, maybe 10 at each playing some kind of game, having a fine time...not loud. Other patrons seemed mostly local too. Of course we had ordered way more than we could eat, hence the doggie bag. Lunch on the trail!!
