Egg Harbor Cafe

I really don't know how breakfast restaurants can offer pancakes and waffles but not REAL maple syrup. We ordered blueberry pancakes and the accompanying warm blueberry compote was wonderful. Sadly, the "syrup" was the cheap, tasteless, sticky, stringy corn syrup trying to pass for the real thing. Which is impossible! Give diners the option of paying more for real maple syrup, please!

The menu is a mix of Lebanese and American (hotdogs and hamburgers). Lunch came with water with lemon juice, hummus and bread, The falafel appetizer was fresh, crisp and best I have tasted. The lamb kebabos came on bed with yellow basmati rice. The lamb was perfectly tenders and spiced with a hint of cinnamon, The veg platter came with tabbouleh, falefel, hummus, babaganoush and bread. The meal came with baklava. All the food was authentic Lebanese. The service was friendly and attentive.

Starbucks

It's your run of the mill Starbucks and a little tucked away. Only thing is it can get really loud and really busy especially around 3/4 when all the schools get out and the students walk over to get drinks. Logically around those times it can also get backed up and you sometimes have to wait a little longer for your drink. Once had a problem with my drink, manager took care of it. If you're going there to catch up it's great, but the noise can make it tricky to find a good time to go study.

Had a wonderful time with my friends enjoying a wonderful cup of tea. Purchased delicious bread to take home after!

This is not a in and out place to have tea or coffee but a proper place to have a leisurely conversation with real cups! The bakery is wonderful with plenty of take out options!

Silo Pizza

Reviewed By Traderjoey - Chicago, Illinois

A bit noisy on a weekend, this is a tough place to have a conversation in. We elected to sit upstairs where it seemed a bit more quiet, but cooler with the many ceiling fans. We read a review on TA that said they had a separate gluten free oven and fryer. If that was the case, it isn't any longer. That being said the GF pizza was a bit greasy and underwhelming. However, their deep dish sausage pizza was very tasty as was the meatball sandwich. Good tasting fries. My daughter enjoyed the thin crust pizza. I enjoyed talking to our sever, Zaire, good personality. This is about a 10 minute drive from Lake Forest College.

Suzy's Swirl

Suzy's Swirl is the perfect spot for families to take a frozen yogurt break. They offer 8-10 different flavors, including low sugar as well as custard and sorbet/dairy-free options. Great selection of toppings. What sets Suzy's apart is the cheerful, welcoming décor and the consistently friendly service. A neighborhood gem.

We have been here a few times while son was at Great Lakes NS. You can get any breakfast imaginable. Super good, fast and hot. Very decent coffee.

This is a diner, but it's nice inside. Clean and comfortable. Huge menu selection and
the service is wonderful. I can't say enough about how friendly everyone is. They really make you feel welcome.

We loved this place!

This newly renovated restaurant is now the best restaurant in the Lake Forest and surrounding area. All dishes tried by our group of four were outstanding and beautifully presented. The staff is extremely professional and attentive but at the same time are relaxed, able to have a bit of fun with their guests. Highly recommended.

Sushi Kushi Toyo

Reviewed By SavyTraveling - Chicago

'have been enjoying exceptional Japanese cuisine here for years.
The seafood is always first rate / sushi-grade and offered in numerous variations of preparations. 'have been fortunate to dine here often with Japanese friends and there is a 'Japanese' menu [in addition to their front of the house/official menu]. 'have tried the spectrum of their offerings and have yet to hit a missed note.
Although their sake offerings are - somewhat, limited, they do have Sapporo Premium on draft and a full bar.
Service can't be improved on, as they're most hospitable and genuinely care about how they're perceived.
I can't recommend this establishment highly enough.
They do luncheon specials that are of exceptionally good value; with their Bento-box luncheon offerings of beef, salmon or chicken teriyaki [either of which come with fried-rice, miso-soup, tempura shrimp and vegetables, as well as a choice of various rolls], for just $12.99 hard to pass up mid-day.
Free/self-parking is available in the lot immediately out front of the restaurant and their menu is available on line/on their web-site [though not the highly variable, handwritten in Japanese menu; for that you'll have to ask when you're there].
Japanese: "乾杯" (kanpai, lit. "Empty the glass", similar to "bottoms up" in English)
