Wirtshaus Rohrerhof

Reviewed By Guntarn - München

Malerwinkel

Reviewed By ProfessorClements - Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

We were visiting Rattenberg for the day and decided to eat at the Café Malerwinkel. It's just off the main street where all the tourists go in a quiet alley (with a good view). The weather was hot and we decided to eat outside on the Terrace.
We only had a snack and a beer, but the cheese soup was outstanding and it was beautifully presented (with tiny bread sticks wrapped in Palma ham).
The service was perfect and very friendly (as it almost always is in this part of the Tyrol). We went inside to look round. This restaurant has some of the most amazing dining rooms I've ever seen - they look as if they've been hacked out of the surrounding stone. It's also immaculately decorated and very clean.
We saw other people's food (who were eating more than us) and the presentation also looked immaculate. We will go back.
On our way out, we complemented the staff and we were invited to use the lift to the top floor where there's an open Terrace with a view across the medieval town. Our lucky day.

Genuss Schmied'n

Sigwart's Tiroler Weinstuben

Historic, comfortable, wood paneled dining rooms create an incomparable and genuine atmosphere at “Sigwart’s Tiroler Weinstuben” underscored by luscious, straight-forward cuisine which never loses sight of its Tyrolean roots.

Without doubt, one of the finest konditorei in the Tirol, located at the very heart of Rattenberg, a touristic paradise. The selection of pastries is enough to make you dribble in anticipation ! The owner gives a wonderful exhibition of how to make apple Strudel - I would volunteer to sample everyday ! It was simply sublime

Gasthof Kanzler Biener

We just went in because we suddenly got hungry and it looked appealing from the outside.
Since it was a rainy day, there were not much visitors and we easily got a place. The service was nice and fast and soon after placing our orders we got surfed.
There was nothing to complain about. The food was good and not too high priced. Actually, we expected higher prices for such a touristy spot.

Gasthof Herrnhaus

The food and service are excellent. What I enjoy the most is how it captures Austrian spirit with the antique furniture, traditional dress and Tyroler decorations. This is like walking back in time. A slower rhythm, traditional foods in a great setting. Worth the wait, or reserve in advance as it is oftern full during peak periods.

Brauhaus Rattenberg

Reviewed By Bob_in_Jax - Jacksonville, Florida

It's a shame that the bad service took away from the food, which was really pretty good. The server had us follow him to a table, but there were still other people there, which was awkward. When the others left, he seated us. After several minutes, he asked us to move because he needed the table. He seated us at another table which wasn't completely cleaned. After a long wait, he took our order and eventually brought our drinks. He didn't come back to our table until it was time for us to pay. Another server brought my wife's order. After at least 30 more minutes, my order was brought out by yet another server. We loved Rattenberg but would never, ever return to this restaurant.

Postalm Alpbach

Reviewed By ToddMoose - Bedford, England

The PostAlm is a regular haunt when we are skiing in Alpbach; it has a great apres ski atmosphere, relaxed, friendly and not overly energetic; there’s live Austrian (folk/apres ski) music on Sunday afternoons/early evenings which adds to the fun atmosphere. The food menu offers fairly standard Austrian fare, but it is well cooked and the pizzas we had were a good size and well loaded with toppings. (Note. When we ate there were two sitting times 18:00 and 20:00) Friendly staff, good beer and shnapps, what’s not to like – we’ll be back in next time we are in Alpbach.
